Here is a draft of that; Please make helpful Suggestions on:

1. Readability to High Schoolers
2. If its "Journalistic" enough to get the High school editors to allow it to be published.
3. Its stance. They gave the impressions of desiring me to write a aritcle about "Why Chavez Hates America? He has been supporting Saddam, meeting with Castro, etc."
4. Length...its at its maximum right now...anything that could be shortened without losing content?

Iaccuse the North American empire of being the biggest menace to our planet...we must confront the privileged elite who have destroyed a large part of the worldthey make us slavescapitalism leads us straight to hell. Said Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. The former Military officer and now populist rebel-rouser has been very prevalent in world affairs lately, no doubt largely due to his shockingly open socialist, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist stance. Why does Chavez seem to despise the United States so much? Who is he that he even deserves importance in world affairs? Well, first of all, he is one of the first Latin American Leaders to finally take a stand of rebellion against the oil and business oligarchies that have plunged the mass majority of Latin America into poverty, exploitation, and debt. In 1992, while still a military officer, Chavez had led a popularly supported attempted military coup, which he was subsequently sent to prison for. Back then; Venezuela was a deeply divided country, with a small minority of rich landowners and businesses executives at the top while nearly every other person was starving to death. Corruption was rampant, and countless people rioted against this fake democracy. When Chavez was elected into presidency in 1999, he declared his movement as the Bolivarian Socialist Revolution he would ruthlessly repress and steal from the rich minority and charitably distribute all of it towards the poor majority. Since 1997, when over 60% of the population was in poverty, under Chavezs economic reforms poverty has dropped to a scarce 40%. The root of Chavezs Anti-Americanism lies elsewhere though. While he was eliminating poverty through campaigns called Bolivarian Missions which basically distributed free food, water, and supplies to the millions of poverty-stricken workers, some deeply disagreed with his actions. In 2002, a small group of military high generals and business tycoons decided that enough was enough they couldnt risk Chavez establishing social equality in Venezuela. Chavez was taken prisoner by the military and a new democratic government was instated, led by Pedro Carmona. This new democracy immediately declared that the House of Representatives was to be disbanded, along with the Supreme Court, leaving only the president. But mass protests with millions of Chavez-supporters taking to the streets forced the military to surrender Chavez and the new government to resign. Chavez proved that he was beloved by the people for the people to so forcibly have demanded his return. Chavez believed that Americans demanding his death and turning Venezuela back into an American Colony had instigated this coup. With this belief, Chavez has been campaigning ever since to rid Latin America of what he sees as widespread capitalist-caused poverty and ignorance. While his foreign diplomacy clearly shows a lack of compromise and instead standing firm on his own ideals, to the people of Venezuela he is nothing less than a savior. Millions of starving and wretched have been lifted from that poor existence and brought to an existence worthy of a human being. His outlandish boasts to America and the world that he rarely does anything about dont matter since he doesnt bother to take action against America besides using Venezuelas oil for Venezuela. The US often accuses Chavez of being undemocratic, which is clearly both a double standard and a lie, as photos of Anti-Chavez demonstrations (mostly by businessmen) are common. If Chavez truly ruled over a dictatorship, no such demonstrations would occur, and instead we would be seeing Chavez statues everywhere, in which so far not a single one has been built. Chavez is nothing more than a socialist seeking to completely eliminate the social problems of Venezuela and so far his attempts have succeeded, and his people love him.

I've seen in a mainstream ABC news interview with his ex-wife that he is "bipolar".
I don't trust the source, however, because of course his ex-wife would be bitter. Of course the elite running Clear Channel would aim to paint an image of a mentally unstable dictator overthrowing the governments in the south.

I like the article. but I would take the word "scarce" away from before 40% poverty rate. There is nothing scarce about 40%.

I don't know about his being bipolar (Big deal, plenty of people, noble or ignoble, deal with this mental affliction through no fault of their own. Personally, I think claiming and believing that a sky fairy would want you to invade foreign countries is far more problematic. Bush and his cronies are in dire need of help.), but I do know that Chavez is very dependent on caffeine. :lol:

Here is a severely revised version;

Why does Chavez, the leader of the Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) in some small South American country, seem to despise the United States so much? Who is he that he even deserves such importance and coverage in world affairs?
Well, first of all, he is one of the first Latin American Leaders to finally rebel against the oil and business oligarchies that have plunged the mass majority of Latin America into poverty, exploitation, and debt. In 1992, while still a military officer, Chavez had led a popularly supported attempted military coup, which he was subsequently sent to prison for. Back then; Venezuela was a deeply divided country, with a small minority of rich landowners and businesses executives at the top while nearly every other person was starving to death. Corruption was rampant, and countless people rioted against this fake democracy which was in truth a ruthless dictatorship. When Chavez was elected overwhelmingly into presidency in 1999, he declared his movement as the Bolivarian Socialist Revolution he would ruthlessly repress and steal from the rich minority and charitably distribute all of it towards the poor majority. Since 1997, when over 60% of the population was in poverty, under Chavezs economic reforms poverty has dropped to 40%. Even those in poverty dont have it as terrible as they had before Chavez Chavez has given them dozens of free services from free universal health care and others. Illiteracy has been eliminated in Venezuela under Chavez, according to the UN. Millions of those in poverty now have free education, and those going to college are granted scholarships. Millions of hungry mouths are now fed food by Chavezs workers, under no cost or obligation of theirs. Industrial Growth is now an outstanding 7% and a year, and economic growth at 8.8% a year. Voting, which previously was only limited to a small electorate, has now been expanded by the millions to include the nations disenfranchised poor. To ensure the people of the country have the strongest say in the government, every week Chavez hosts a show called Alo Presidente in which people phone in and tell Chavez what they want, and what problems they see in the country. Every problem in Venezuela is currently being tackled full force by Chavezs regime.
But not everyone liked that Chavez was helping the poor. In 2002, a small group of army generals and business tycoons decided that enough was enough they couldnt risk Chavez establishing social equality in Venezuela. Chavez was taken prisoner by the military and a new democratic government was instated, led by de facto dictator Pedro Carmona. This view was no doubt reinforced by the statement Christian leader Pat Robertson stated about Chavez We need to get rid of him. With this belief, Chavez has been campaigning ever since to rid Latin America of what he sees as widespread capitalist-caused poverty and ignorance.
While his foreign diplomacy clearly shows a lack of compromise and firm standing on his own ideals, to the people of Venezuela he is nothing less than a savior. Dozens of parties run in free elections, where the most prominent parties are the MVR, Venezuelan Socialists, and the Communists. Chavez was reelected with over 60% of the vote in December 2006, monitored by hundreds of international observers who all declared the election to be completely fair. Chavez is nothing more than a socialist seeking to completely eliminate the social problems of Venezuela and so far his attempts have succeeded, and his people love him. The president is revolutionary, totally different to the people who have governed the country in the past the president is working for the people. Says Student Leader Abraham Aparicio from Venezuela.

It looks good but I wouldn't say that Chavez eliminated illiteracy. Maybe you could say something like "he was nearly eliminated" or "he has virtually eliminated". But what you have now implies that he has literally done away with illiteracy which can never be true of any place.
