Good article about the ridiculous political correctness of the society we live in . I cant believe that they call it cultural marxism ... Arg ... those political correct fanatics have spoiled the name of marxism . http://www.gazette.uwo.ca/article.cfm?sect...ay=23&year=2004 (http://www.gazette.uwo.ca/article.cfm?section=News&articleID=43&month=9&day=23&year=2004)

I don't know what to say about PC (however, the example in the article could be considered as going to far...I mean its a damn ad and they are basically everywhere in capitalism...we shouldn't take "offensive" ads seriously)
But....are you posting this because of your recent stint and spite with "Political Correctness" in another thread? (The thread I'm talking about (http://www.revleft.com/index.php?showtopic=64518))

People who call police actions queer, gay, and 'fairy boy' also ruin the name of Marxism.

Agreed.
But to the topic poster, what exactly does that article have to do with marxism?

The difference between scantily clad men and scantily clad women is the objectification of one and not the other.
How many TV shows or commercials or movies do you see with men in G-strings in the background to serve as decorations. Woman are used as something to look at. Men aren't, except in rare cases and circumstances.

Urging against using derogatory and discriminatory name-calling isn't "political correctness". What the fuck would the Marxist movement be if we all ran around calling capitalists the N word?

What a fucking stupid article, but then again what can you expect from the kind of people that use phrases similar to "political correctness gone mad".
For a start the article quickly descends into a slippery slope argument, talking about "Ads by Palestinians which offend Jews [and vice versa]" as if advocating stemming the flow of female objectification in advertising was the same as wish to censor all adverts which offended any group of people. Personally I am, naturally, against advertising on principal but I recognise that as long as there is advertising, someone will be offended by it but this is no reason not to allow certain adverts to be printed. Our concern is not with offence caused, by with actual discrimination.
Anyone disagree?

Considering that Marx used the "N word" a great deal, I imagine that the answer is "Marxist"?
