They posted the offending comments about the Vice Principal on a private Facebook group and were somehow caught or ratted out. They did not post the comments while on school grounds and did not use property belonging to the school to post the comments. It's a shame all the cops survived.

I suppose it could possibly be considered slander, but since when have students been kicked out either temporarily or permanently for slander?

Regardless of whether or not it's slander, the school is acting outside of its jurisdiction by restricting the behaviour of its students while they are off campus, not using school property, and not under the custody of their school (i.e. an off-campus field trip or a school-sponsored weekend ski trip), especially since it's a fucking public school, not Bob Jones "University" or something. (How institutions that take a 4000 year-old mythological text as literally true can be considered centres of higher learning is beyond me. Fundamentalist schools should be legally compelled to identify with a term typically associated with religious extremism rather than with higher education. Bob Jones Fundie-Fuck Madrasah. :D)

If you want to be taken seriously you should definately avoid using derogatory terms for homosexuals in place of qaulitative observations.

This article doesnt surprise me, schools are always suspending people for nothing, as it is the role of the entire institution to propagate hegemonic culture through miseducational socialization. If the man doesnt want adults to think for themselves, he has to condition them not to from childhood.
