My High School Newspaper has commissioned me to write an article about Hugo Chavez and his perceieved threat to the United States. While the description was clearly meant that the article is 'supposed' to be Anti-Chavez, I was able to suggest that it be a well-researched look into true venezuala and its "threat" to the US.

Any Suggestions on how to write the Article to create favorable Chavez-feelings among a ignorant high-school crowd? Later on I'll post a draft for the article.

Thanks

Well, I would start by talking about the philosophy behind America's hatred of Chavez's Venezuela. This could include the assumption of the infallibility of the free market and individual negative liberty. Then you could compare this with Marxist perceptions of those things (I don't know enough about Chavez to talk about him really, so I'll make the assumption he is a traditional Marxist). This would be the idea that individual liberty is in fact not liberty as it allows individuals to have advantage over one another, thus a society which is based upon community and equality it better, and this is what Chavez offers.
You can also talk about how the Cold War has poisoned the American populace against the idea of tolerating any kind of Socialist/Marxist ideal. The way the the government of the time portrayed Communism as a great evil because it created a level playing field for all people.

Anyway, I hope that's helpful.
Good Luck

You could write about how Chavez is a threat to American profit. Analyze it in relation to imperialism and class conflict.

Good leftist sources for a marxist analysis of evnets in Venezuela. Outline whats going on in Venezuela, why this benefits the Venezuelan working class, why this threatens American domination of the continent and also importantly why American workers could benefit from this.

That's a good point there. Teach them why America is not the land of liberty, but the land of profit and exploitation.

Oh so the link is a trick ? My bad , so it doesnt really matter that my computer wont connect to it . Write the article in your newspaper from a totally communist perspective and give evidence and sources , so it would lead people into opening up their eyes . First say that the U.S is a totalitarian , imperialist state , with heavy fascistic elements , and truly governed by a gang of corporations and businesses ect . and write that Venezuela and Cuba are true democracies being hunted down by the imperialists so they can become America\'s vassals and \"whorehouses\" . ( Before 1959 , Cuba was a place where American businessmen would go for prostitutes . Now they have to go all the way to Thailand for sexual tourism . :)

Write that any country which seeks not to be a vassal of the U.S is a threat to its oligarchy and that true democracies are as threatening to the U.S as good is threatening to the devil .
