i saw this movie a few days ago and loved it, Whitaker is a damn good actor as Idi Amin Dada.

to others who have seen the movie, is it a realistic portrayal of Idi Amin?
is it a true story because i heard it was based on a novel but it could be the novel is for real.

I thought it was a poor movie. Whitaker, was himself, exellent, but that was one of the few highlights.

The doctor character was apparently very loosely based around Amin's aide, Bob Astles.

I thought it was pretty boring and overrated, but Forrest Whitaker's portrayal of Amin was brilliant, his acting and the accent etc. were all spot on.

Forest was great, unfortunately I think they really miscast Nicholas, that would've made the movie entirely better.
