So we always hear bands these days on major labels being called Sell-Outs etc .
But bands from the 60's and early 70's who were also on major labels ie. Hendrix, Stones , Beatles etc. But you never really hear them get called sell-outs. why was this? Do record companies have more control over the direction of a bands/artists own material, than thy did back in that era?

artists on major labels are not sell-outs, they usually join sush labels for more reconition and fans.
they are sell-outs if they do stuff just to make a buck like star in commercials

Agreed big manifesto if they keep the same message and continue to write music from their own feeling and beliefs they are not sellouts.

Back in those early days I don't think you had many other options for getting your music out there. Certianly not like today.
