Paramilitary Threats

What are revolutionary policies(no pun intended) about the Police? If there was to be a violent quick revolution instead of slow erosion by gradual socialisation, what would happen to the police forces? They would be a counter-revolutionary threat. What are some ideas about dealing with them? I do not care if the things you post are your own ideas, as long as they are ideas.

Well, you're going to have to fight someone in a revolutiion. The police are the apparatus of the state, so to overthrow the state, you must fight the police who are defending them. Ideally though, the police and military would largely subvert to the revolution, as in the Febuary revolution in Russia.
