View Full Version : Discrimination must be destroyed....

Today is the last straw for me. I had been planning to stay home and chill, but my homie(who dresses "gangster-ish") really wanted me to go with him and sum friends to the hookah bar so I went and kicked it with them. Everything was going cool until it started getting more people. The place had been getting packed and it was me and 4 other people. Well there is a rule in the establishment that there can only be 2 people per hookah, but it is never really enforced. In fact, every time I go there with different friends(who dress more hip-hop-ish/skater or "white wash" as some people might say) we are given the royal treatment and are allowed to have as many people as we want on the hookahs. Well out of all the people who were sharing the hookahs, me and my friends were pretty obviously discriminated against when they asked us to leave because we had been sharing the hookahs. It was downright mad because other people were doing the exact same thing, but they did not tell one other person. I highly doubt that it is based on our own mistakes because this never happens. The atmosphere was bad also because the owners were looking and talking to us like crap.

Now, this may be minor to some people, but this is an ongoing thing for me and I’m sick of it. Teachers treating me like shit. People looking at me stereo-typing their bullshit on how I look. Obviously these people are good with these mind sets of their own race as a superiority or a hate for other races. What is to be done about these people? Obviously many racists or people who discriminate against a certain "type" are not all going to change. What is to be done about it? Racism will be an on going dilemma till the day we all die because I seriously doubt it will ever go away, even if Capitalism was to be abolished. It was here b4 Capitalism came, and it will still be here afterwards. Should fear be a tool against these people or should we try and coincide with people like that? Maybe showing people that discrimination can come along with "consequences" is a thing to realize. I'm sorry if I sound like a ranting idiot, but I just blazed and it seriously pisses me off when this happens. :(

I fully understand what you mean, people shouldn't be discriminated on the way they look. Everyone should look how they want or wear what they want (except if it promotes hatred to the people like a nazi swastika). I too get discriminated or looked upon for having long hair and i'm a man. Society isn't educated enough and that's why prejudices still exist.

I think it can change, but only by the complete rebuilding of society. Nothing major; but our current system certainly doesn't do anything to impede against discrimination, especially considering every fucking politician and his dog is always *****ing about "those immigrants" and "those black criminals" and all of that shit. Everything is always pointing out racial stereotypes.

I think a more immediate strategy of aggressive confrontation coupled with sympathization is the best way.. by that I mean going after the bar and bar owners, but not in any destructive way. Spraypaint "RACIST" on the front of the building, or something similar. Call attention to it in an anonymous way and hopefully it will catch the attention of enough people that collectively enough pressure can be put on the guy for him to never pull that shit again. You may not be able to change his ways but you sure as hell can publically humiliate him.

And if that fails, torch the fucking bar and make it look like white supremacists did it. That always works. :)

Discrimination - particuarly racial discrimination - is part of the social superstructure of the mode of production - Capitalism. Discrimination can only be dealt with through the destruction of Capitalism as an economic system. Capitalism gives rise to discrimination because of the inequality in the distribution of wealth and income; the anxeity and frustration that arises from the insecurity of having insufficient income to be free from the potential of being unable to pay rent and purchase basic goods and services causes people to try and find a justification for their problems, regardless of whether that justification is rational. One of the justifications offerred by Far-Right political parties and accepted by the working class is discrimination against others who are seen as having unfairly taken jobs from those that are 'part' of the country - often on the basis of the colour of their skin.

I partially agree with bobkindles but to blame all racism on capitalism is exagerated. Racism exists also through being brought to be proud of your country, nationalism. With that you have a high chance to believe in that you are superior to another land. It's not alone because of capitalism, i have known people that became racist because a certain group of people of foreign roots attacked them.

How does inequality in wealth (the class system) lead to heterosexism or transphobia for example? That is textbook economic reductionism.
