Does anyone have any helpful tips for Photoshop for a person who has never used it?

Dude, that's a super broad question!!! :D

Have you had a look at any of the tutorials in the sticky? (or on the net?)

What kinds of things did you hope to do with the software?

I can only suggest you find some cool brushes and stuff like that, www.deviantart.com is awesome

You can browse brushes, tutorials, custom shapes and all sorts of other things pertaining to photoshop - all available for download as well

for installing PS brushes etc just go to whatever directory you installed PS in (in my case program files) e.g. C:/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop CS2/Presets/Brushes and paste them in

Tutorials help a lot as well, but it's mostly about playing around learning how the different tools work and of course being creative

if you need any help on a more direct issue, feel free to ask

All I know how to do it in Photoshop is make stencils, so if you need help on that let me know.
