View Full Version : Israel's right to be racist!?!

here is the first paragraph:

Israel's struggle for peace is a sincere one. In fact, Israel desires to live at peace not only with its neighbours, but also and especially with its own Palestinian population, and with Palestinians whose lands its military occupies by force. Israel's desire for peace is not only rhetorical but also substantive and deeply psychological. With few exceptions, prominent Zionist leaders since the inception of colonial Zionism have desired to establish peace with the Palestinians and other Arabs whose lands they slated for colonisation and settlement. The only thing Israel has asked for, and continues to ask for in order to end the state of war with the Palestinians and its Arab neighbours, is that all recognise its right to be a racist state that discriminates by law against Palestinians and other Arabs and grants differential legal rights and privileges to its own Jewish citizens and to all other Jews anywhere. The resistance that the Palestinian people and other Arabs have launched against Israel's right to be a racist state is what continues to stand between Israel and the peace for which it has struggled and to which it has been committed for decades. Indeed, this resistance is nothing less than the "New anti- Semitism".

what do you guys think of it? I can't believe anyone would take this guy seriously...

This is definitely the worst part of the whole paragraph. As if opposing English rule in the Americas was anti-Anglican. Honestly, opposition to colonialism and imperialism and racism are two entirely different things. As for the rest of the article, I find it somewhat astonishing that someone can actually defend a state's right to be racist, especially when so many Zionists try to claim that Israel is a secular democracy when in reality the only Arabs in power there are there to create a facade of diversity so as to make a defense of Israel as being secular much easier. This article doesn't really put anything new forward other than the fact that some people are actually starting to defend openly and outrightly what they see as Israel's inalienable right to be a racist state.

This is satire, right?

Whoever wrote seems to thinks that there is such things as justification for rascism.
rascism would only beget hate; but he says all this shit probably because he has never tasted real discrimination. I wonder what he would think once he's on the other side of the gun?

It is important to stress that this Zionist rationale is correct on all counts if one accepts the proposition of Jewish exceptionalism
Yeah, but what if you're not a Zionist? Than all this would be bullshit. What if you also consider Zionism to be bullshit? What if the article is really a satire or criticism to Zionists?

Also if its sooo neccessary for Isreal to be a rascist state; than why don't they just follow a 2-state solution so the palestinians won't have to stand up to this shit (in which they will and are)?

However, the article ends kinda oddly. I think what the article is trying to do is inform us of this "rascist" character, not really supporthing it (aleast the ending gave off that kind of vibe). It is stating no more than that Isreal will not give up its rascism (or imperialism, etc), that a binational one state won't really work (so use the 2 state method? the article provides no ideas), and that Zionist now consider anti-semitism (what the new author calls anti-semitism) any attack of the rascist character of Isreal (that is, when any of us criticize Zionist policies, we are automatically labeled by Zionists as anti-semites)

Hebrew exceptionalism is a brutal thing: The ancient Hebrews and their religion (which I consider to encompass Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) were revoltingly barbaric: It's time we stop holding humanity back by letting it define our species and many of our civilisations.

djeez, guys, this is obviously satire. 'right to be racist' should have made that clear, like the website name 'electronic intifada'

Edit; it's also hilarious :D

Though this may be satire, it seems Israel truly does believe this which is the worst part.

It must be satire, because in a way it is correct. There are two conditions for peace, the oppressed do nothing to resist oppression or the oppressed obliterate the oppressors. The first is against historical materialism.

I noticed that too but this sounds very serious, I doubt it is satire, I mean there would be a joke in there...

I know this is what they must have been printing in Nazi germany, or South Africa, the world's inability to see this is stagaring...

Why does it have to be satire?

btw there is also assimilation (this happens in most situations) and massarcing the oppressed (ie. Nazi Germany)
