View Full Version : America is falling

I recently read an article in a magazine called foriegn policy, written by a left-wing writer. I started to think about it, i came to the conclusion that America's power is slipping away. The hatred towards our country has reached an all time peak. Our economy has been growing, but as chomsky put it, thanks to the economic party thrown by regean our growth has been surpassed by many countries. It seems that soon we will lose our economic might. It could happen very easily. If you think about it america is rapidly shifting to a society much like that of Ferenheit 451. Pure consumers. We don't make anything. All of our products come from other countries. It's sad really, because i am an american and i was happy to come to this realization. I was happy that my country was losing power. Perhaps that is why the country is falling apart. No one believes in it. Not people from other countries, and not even Americans. This has become a country of greed, coruption, and exploitation.

The grass is dry here, and i'm just waiting for the spark.

I think that the recent trend of the European Union and its disagreement with a few US policies is a sign of America's falling power.

I believe the US will continue to wage this war on terror until it alienates itself from the rest of the world. I hope and pray for the destruction of the corporate dictatorship in America. The corporate giants are falling, the UN is growing stronger, the US is falling.

The conditions for world revolution are developing. Poverty is on the increase, even in the US. The problem
is that capitalism only exists as a shell sustained by ideology. The movement from being a relative fetter on human development to being an absolute fetter, has been disturbed by the rise of new technologies which have went some way to compensating for market stagnation. Yet new technologies have proven to be an unstable investment, that in the long term will bottom out and cause, as far is as forseeable, stagnation without end. This is a recipe for an increase in the level of class struggle.
What revolution is about is bringing subjectivity to new conditions and patiently showing that all capitalist solutions are going nowhere. Our time is coming nearer.

I think there's little doubt about it. I think America went on fighting the cold war about 10 years too long (if they should ever have been a cosd war at all) all that time ignoring the threat from all the toehr countries in the world which do not have democracy. Now, the middle east and slim shady bin laden take us by surprise.
On 9/11 in the State Department "but.....I didn't know bin Laden was a leftie......."

Peace, about poverty in america. i was walking in downtown miami yesterday where there are usually many homeless but i saw two little girls who were completly by themselves lieing in front of a closed shop. (it was pretty early, alot wasn't open yet).. and it really bugged me as their are thousands of very wealthy people that walk down these streets for their famous "fashion" shops and not one person stopped. So, i went over and asked the girls how old they were. One was 14, the other was 11, they were sisters. They didnt say anything about their parents when i asked so i knew that they either died, went to jail, or left them there. I did the same thing anyone with a little heart would do, i bought them breakfast, got them some cheap clothes to change into considering the weather in florida, and drove them to a homeless shelter. I talked to the lady at the shelter, and get this. more than 90% of all children who go to the shelter will leave within days due to the fact that no one will ever get them, and they have less chance of getting food their then on the streets. The shelter is also a hub for drug users and drug sellers, and most people wont stay. On the way home, i could do nothing but think about these poor girls and the millions of others just like them. Its a sad thing..

listen, i'll admit, america has been losing its power, but dont feed me this crap about america being a country being the product of corruption of power and greed. that statement is cliche and when people say it they never back it up. every country is corrupt in some way, no matter how you look at it. america is losing its power, but i'll take being one of the best instead of being the best. its about time the superpower of america got humbled enough to say it had an equal.

Got a few random thoughts (no rhyme but lots of reason).

You must look at the past to see what the future holds. America was founded on genocide and slavery. I've heard, and maybe I believe, that this land was inherently evil. The evil was here before the Indians ever got here.

Yes I feel we are a weaker nation now more than any other time. Why? Why, we watch too much tv, eat too much fast food, 50% of marriages fail, corporations cannot be trusted (hell they stab each other in the backs all the time). Our dollar falls, a depression ensues and the gap between the rich and the poor increases even more. Well, Poland is always nice.

Yeah, the scandals of Enron, Worldcom etc. are considered a greater threat to the US regime than 'terrorism'

a weakness in the huge gov't has been found. The inability for the gov't departments to communicate with each other is evident. The US gov't can now be seen as a humongus dinosaur too big to see it's tail. So now it begins to fall and once it's down it's not getting up

I was in New York, almost a year ago and damn: I hate America's capitalism. Big problems is what they ask for if they go on like this.
Do they really think it's their destiny to be the master or is it just a lame excuse? America isn't as strong as "we" think. Not at all.
