Hello

So I live in the California and (Democratic Party oriented) liberal attitudes hold a lot of mainstream sway. As a radical, it has been frustrating to see a general leftward shift in politics and yet the organized left is non-existant, so left-leaning people basically are only exposed to the talking-points of the Democratic party.

Also, I have a lot of time at work to create a Myspace page. There are a lot of faux-celeb sites on Myspace and I decided to make one of my own (the link is in my signature at the end of this post). I stole a character from the Colbert Report, a liberal-talk show host, as a way to satarize Democrats from a left-perspective.

So basically I wanted some feedback. I think the page is pretty sarcastic and obviously a joke, but I've been getting hate-mail from radicals and fan emails from liberals... is the joke too subtle? What's going on?

Here's a sample:
"Enviromotionalist:

I have now effectively reduced my personal impact on the environment. Instead of polluting the air with my exhaled carbon dioxide, I now swallow, rather than breath out. I am dizzy with accomplishment and bloated with the warm satisfaction of doing my part to help stop global warming.

True, there is a coal refinery on the next block over, but I think if I start swallowing the carbon dioxide exhaled by everyone in my apartment building, I can start to offset those emissions."

Thanks for any feedback.

Well, it is Myspace so don't be surprised by the lack of political analysis/understanding.

Thanks for the feedback.

I went to the Obama speech in Oakland and there were like 10,000 people there - most of them want the war to end and most of them want to see an end to racism and to see free helth care and yet they support Obama who didn't even have the guts to say (after that General said that homosexuality is immoral) personally that homosexuality is not immoral - he had to have one of his flunkies say it after he had been publically asked about it!

He also supports war with Iran (though you really have to read beteen the lines to figure it out - he's slick)!

At the rally in Oakland, he said that the Iraqis are like America's business partners and it's time to tell them that we want to do business with them, but they have to start holding up their end of the bargin. WTF!? America is the business partner to Iraq like the mob is business partners with nightclubs they take over, and then burn down for the insurance money!

Anyway, it's aggrivating here in the "liberal" oasis of the bay area when shit like this gets passed off as the "progressive alternative". This site is basically the fruit of that aggrivation.
