"There is more truth in one sword than in ten thousand words". -The Koran
My rational mind would like to say that's bullshit, but the sword brings death and that is the ultimate enlightenment, so be it. What do you think comrade?

Leave it to religion to say that death is the ultimate plateau a human can reach. Jeez...
Other 'gems' from the Koran/Quran:
"But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." (Sura 9:5).
"When you encounter the unbelievers, strike off their heads; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost. " (Sura 47:4).
"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." (Sura 9:29).
"Say to the infidels: If they desist, what is now past shall be forgiven them; but if they return, they have already before them the doom of the ancients! Fight then against them till strife be at an end, and the religion be all of it Allah's." (Sura 8:38-39).
"And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith." (Sura 9:3).
Not that Islam is unique in it's bloodstained pages. Monotheism is a hiearchical, dominating threat to the freedom of all people. Or hasn't anyone here studied a second of history?
You simply cannot package war and peace together an expect it to work, much less be sane.

Oh, hey, thanks Trance. I've been trying to find such things from the Qu'ran but since I haven't had access to one in a while, I naturally couldn't find it. Thanks for that post.

Yeah Thanks.. I hate religions.. They're all like them. They're supposed to preach 'sincerity' and 'compassion' and all that crap, but the gods in those books are always killing people or destroying entire civilizations. In one story, (I think from the Toarah) God kills off a mans family to prove that even if bad things happen, the man would still worship him. How fucked up is that?

La Rainbeaux,
No problem. There's more, but those are the ones I could remember.
Drake Dracoli,
I believe you're refering to the story of Job? I think you are anyway.
Yes, for all this peace religion claims to profess, their 'holy' (and I use that word loosely) books are full of war, death, and misery. And you can have this too all in the service of 'god'! Bet you can't wait huh?
And that's just where it starts, that's just the actual books! History shows how much worse it gets when those books are taken seriously and acted upon!
The crazy shit we humans will do to feel cosmically significant...

Amen to that....(oh, wait, amen is religious)
How true, though. When will people realize that it is THEY who matter. It is WE who matter, not some "god." Our struggle is here, not in any "after-life." I will not bow to anyone or anything.

I think my signature says so much about religion.
