Probably the biggest question I have encountered is why have, after the disintigration of the USSR, and recent happenings in China, there been a world-wide movement toward capitalism.
One can make (poor) arguments that the USA spent the USSR to "death" in the area of weapons, but China is another matter. The "West" did not cause China's loosening up of its attempt to become more socialist. It was, and still is, an internal decision to move in this direction. No one put a gun to their heads. Same with Vietnam.
You read these countries current constitutions (they each have one or something like it), and though they declare themselves to be "socialist", they are in fact the opposite.
Simply put, all of this recent action appears to be based upon a choice.
What is the argument against this recent activity?
Edit: We all KNOW these places never were socialist. And the people I discuss these things with know this also. So let's say China was more evolving toward socialism in the 50's and 60's. Their leaders acted like capitalists, but the government and party forced the common people to live in many "socialist" circumstances. Recently, the common people have been allowed to live nearly anyway they can afford. This, to me, is a counter-Revolutionary concept. This is what I am discussing.
