Are there any sites that deal with how to counter the restraints and attacks the police so often use?

Thanks. I understand some of those techniques can be useful for larger groups, but I am thinking more like countering the restraint/grappling moves they have.
As I understand they don't have a large "vocabulary" but rather a set of a few effective techniques. Since we are probably talking about a few select techniques much material is probably not needed?

Unfortunately the techniques you'd need to fight them (off) are too complex to be taught to you on the internet... my best advice would be to get some sort of self-defense or martial arts training.

Yes, infact, there is a brilliant book written by an ex policeman on how to pin, kill, paralyse, incapacitate people etc, and even goes on to list all the possible ways that your opponant can react to your attacks - and how to stop them.
For example, if you grab somebodys eyelids, twist them, and pull them to the ground, they will move with your hand to avoid pain (or loosing their eyelids), if they resist, it's useful to note that the human eyelid will stretch to about an inch before tareing off - and it takes little force to do. It also says that twisting somebodys eyelid off will normally instantly end the fight in your favour.
It also gives you advice on how to make people go limp, places you can pinch and twist that makes them go floppy. Etc.
Unfortunatly I've forgotten the name of it (and it im not sure how much it costs) but you probably need to look for books like that.

Loren W Christensen is a retired police officer who has written a lot of books about this kind of stuff.

Lots of sites out there and even more books and courses. Most martial arts these days have some type of reality/scenario based self-defence course or at least incorporate parts of it into combat.

cops are generally very good at fucking you up and i wouldnt advise trying to take them on in a fight, especially if there are more than one. just get out of the situation as quickly as possible.

Actually, most of them are very lowsey in a real right, with the odd exception here or there. Actually, I would say in general their training in h2h is a lot shittier than what some security guards get even.
Cops that have game in h2h probably train on their own. Other than that they usually are big/jock types in reasonable shape, which makes them a bit more physically challenging to fight.
Anyway, cops these days rarely go in to sticky situations without a lot of backup, and they have all kinds of weapons and gear to use like pepper spray, tazers, rubber bullets, and of course the old baton/billy club. Sometimes percussion gernades are used as well.
Even about 10-20 years ago you had more of a chance to struggle and get away from a cop, because not all of them had pepper/tazers back then, and they couldn't just pull the pistol out and shoot you if you were unarmed (unless you were Black and/or there were no witnesses near-by).
I would say don't bother to fight being arrested unless you have a lot to loose, i.e. you have a warrant out that is going to send you to jail for like years. Otherwise you will probably just get caught anyways, brutalized by the pigs for fighting back and then charged with resisting arrest + assualt police, which if your convicted of could add years to your sentence.
So, if you really have to, the first 1-5 seconds count the most. When the cop first grabs you that's when you have to remove his grip/strike him/her then make your escape. If you wait too long and you are already in a struggle it is most likely too late as backup will help them, and even if the cop is alone you will most likely have to fight real hard and/or do serious damage to get free. I wouldn't recommend it, again unless you knew you would be going to jail for a long time.

Come to think of it, one of the most effective things I've seen in dealing with cops is the sucker punch. I know a lot of us have probably seen this. Though this usually only works if the cop's not expecting it. Anyway, essentially, if you've got a good strong punch, try to surprise him/her with a quick solid punch to the head. If you hit, two things will probably happen. either they'll put their head down get defensive which'll give you the upper hand, or it'll knock them straight out.
Also a lot of martial arts teach techniques on how to put someone down with one hit, by chopping their neck or something of that sort. The point of it is, you want to put them down ASAP, because if you don't, they only need a couple of seconds to take out the pepper or tazer or gun. So focus on techniques to put people down in one hit.

the problem is that all attacks that take someone down in one hit will, like marcel mentioned, get you in jail for quite some time and also if you meet cops again and they know you, you wont even have the chance to take them down any more...
i think fighting of cops is only good at protests and in bigger groups. there you can disguise yourself when needed and hope that they loose you in the masses.
in a 1o1 situation i'd recommend either running away or just letting them arrest you.

I did Muay thai for several years, but if you want to learn something quickly i would suggest a form of MMA (mixed martial arts). I sure you could find a school that teaches a good quality fight system in you area.

in my area the cops seem to travel alone, but occasionally there are two in a car. in any case, its still a terrible idea to get in a fistfight with one unless you are certain you can win and evade capture. if cops try to arrest you, just get out of the situation as quickly as possible by hiding or running. my basic rule of thumb with the pigs is to minimize with them as much as possible.

But don't forget to eat his heart to get his courage
That sounds like the most impossible thing to do, just grabbing someone's eyelids alone.
Maybe it's like riding a bike.
As for the original question: you'd need to learn martial arts.

Get a punching bag. Strengthening your punches and refining your technique can go along way as can wrestling with your friends.

I wouldn't reccomend battling cops, its a *****. If you have enough people though, throw shit like coke cans, stones, bricks. Fireworks and flare guns are also good against riot police.

taking someone out with a single punch is extremely difficult
I have only seen that on tv. I have seen KOs, boxing for like three years, but none with a single punch at the beggining of a fight. You have to master a thechnique to do this I suppose
I wouldn't recommend trying this at a cop if you can't fight well, besides, where I live cops travel in pairs so it would be even harder to get away.

Wow, I'm so going for that if I ever get into any trouble. It's quick and most likely successful. I mean, if some one tore off my eyelid, I would not go back for some more.

Hockey sticks work well against riot police as you can shoot tear gas grenades back at the police quickly and if you got a good slap shot you can really hurt police by shooting rocks and cans. Make sure the hockey stick can't be traced back to you in case you have to ditch it (it should be just be a cheap one that you (or anyone you know) never touched without gloves)
You can also make a hockey stick good enough for riots out of a long stick (that makes it hard for them to trace back to you) by crushing one end flat.

Man using a hockey stick to return gas canisters sounds like an awesome idea. I can just imagine the surprise on the faces of LEOs when a pack of demonstrators suddenly pulls out hockey sticks and starts bombarding them with their own chemical weapons.
I like to ask while I'm hear is dousing your bandana in lemon juice really effective against tear gas?

I just wanna comment on the guy who said to rip their eyelids off. Dude just eye gouge them. stick your thumbs into there eyes they will be momentarily blind and it hurts like hell. i can barely grab my own eyeflids nevermind grabbing someone elses while they try and move away from you. If it is a girl cop pull her hair out too.

About the anarchist cookbook : there are a lot of chemical mistakes in it , some things are right , some things are wrong , i wouldn't try to make the 'big' things in the book. Some even say that the anarchist cookbook is spread by the CIA (don't think so). Get some good chemical books and learn , if you know enough about it you can begin experimenting with it. remember , Power = Knowledge!

Strikin cops = shit idea.
Striking a cop upgrades assault to serious assault takin max sentence from 5 years to 7.
In Aus anyways. Just run like fuck.

I have heard of activists throwing sand into their eyes, and ball bearings dropped on the ground for cops charging on horse back...kinda mean to the horses though.
At the anti FTAA demo in Quebec in 2001 someone had a catapult which was used to fire thrift store Teddy Bears at the police behind a barricade :P

One thing I've learned about cops is that they HATE people asserting their rights. In Arkansas, there are no cameras or voice recorders on city cops, so they can do anything they want to you without fear of consequence, especially if you're alone. If you aren't in a riot situation, the best idea is just be respectful and honest, and that will get them out of your hair as quick as possible. Trust me. Cops stalked me, performed an illegal search on me, and beat me into submission, then kicked me in the face. But there were no witnesses and the pigs lied about everything, so I got arrested and charged with resisting a search and disorderly conduct (apparently I cursed at them). Just give them what they want and they'll go away. Resisting for ideological purposes is noble, but the cops will just do their best to get you in deep shit.
In a riot, though, do everything you can to get away because there are too many people to get everyone in custody.
