I keep getting mad at my self. because many answers to the questions I have are right there in front of me! I guess its just hard for me to forget and make the connection of many social issues deriving from capitalist society. I was watching that Fidel Castro documentary by Oliver Stone and this is what he was asked.
OLIVER STONE: So here in Cuba you don't have woman who are having 7 or 8 Children then?
FIDEL CASTRO: No, is not so frequent. because there's more education available. with that women become more encourage to learn and they want to work and participate in society.
Damn! that's so true.. and if you really look at it. for example all this girls or young woman having 5 kids by the time they are 25 or 30 its only really taking places in the low income communities.
You don't hear of this in the suburbs or in upper class towns. Because when you have money and all the privileges at your feet you are more encouraged and you have more access. as opposed to the Girl across town that grows up in a forgotten slum. with very little support and resources.
They just give up on living life. they accept their role to reaise the kids, cook and clean. and call it a life. too early, witch out ever reaching their full potential as human beings. only because of their society that is based on profits as opposed reaching out to people. :(

i see it every week,
mostly the low-lifes, but here in Belgium, maybe i'm wrong, but in 9 of the 10 situations, it's their own fault..
they fuck it up in school 'n stuff, because of that, they have shitty work that doesn't earn a lot.
only if they find a good man, that has a good education, it's different.

I think that is a bit simplistic reasoning; why are they bad at school for example? Because they see no perspective to get out of their miserable conditions?

yeah ok, you've got me ^^
the reason is because they have it bad, they don't have a good job or something, and also sometimes they're criminals..
if they would have been good at school, they would have good jobs (don't know why they would take a shitjob if they would be good at school, their are enough jobs here for high schooled ppl),
so if they were smart, they would think about the future, the conditions they would live in, theur jobs, ...
but they're not, that's why they live like that.

It's unrealistic to expect everyone to make all the right decisions and never the wrong ones. I myself see a lot of this shit going on; young mothers with 3+ kids, living off of welfare, with a dead-beat boyfriend who beats them and does drugs all day long, etc...
It's all a by-product of society, in the same way that black kids in urban America are more likely to fall into criminal activity. It isn't because there is something systematically wrong with them.
I myself am a young parent. I'm in my early 20s and I have a kid, because I made a retardedly bad choice!

You people are forgetting that in Cuba sex education starts earlier than in the United States and teenagers are taught ways to prevent pregnancies. In America if a teenager drops out in the 6th or 7th grade the authorities really do not do much about it. But in Cuba if a teenager drops out the authorities get really nosy and the kids are kicked back into school.

Well that may be a reason why a lot of Cubans are educated then. I believe that having a kid is really no excuse to not go to school. I went out with a girl who had a kid. She had a full time job, raised a son by herself (and her mom) and went to college. In some situations I think its just plain lazyness and the thought of how "hard" its going to be. I have been noticing recently however that the importance of school here in so-cal has been preached more and more.

You have to understand that a kid who lives in poverty sees no motivation to go to school. Cause there school is pretty shitty, the school doesnt provided the student with the same oppurtinies and the same education as rich white kids have. There are plenty of smart kids who live in poverty and go to school but they still end up as drug dealers or in gangs simply because they have so much outside pressure and so much influence from people who already are drug dealers or gang members that they don't contuine to go to school and follow the example of a brother or a close friend because all they see around them is gangs, drugs, and prostuation. The education in poverty area schools is horrible and the emphasis isnt really on educating the student, the teachers are horrible in those areas because most of the good teachers go to the rich schools. You cant simple blame it upon the intelligence of the kid because there are so many outside factors that determine a kids future.

I think it needs to be emphasized however that not all students who live in poverty ends up becoming drug dealers or in the case of women, do not always end up becoming pregnant. Schools that are in an area of poverty can have good teachers, and can even have smart students. It’s not the intelligence of the kid as you point out either, but it’s just the ignorance of what is important. Areas of poverty can be breeding grounds for people of revolutionary thought, but it’s just the brainwashing of how capitalism is the only ideology there is to live in. Many kids even wish to have a life beyond what is currently around them and what do they choose to do? They choose to join the army or they choose to endure a meaningless job where nothing can be accomplished to topple the current capitalistic thought. I do agree with some of what all of you say, but I mean it just can't really be pinpointed to one problem. As ( R )evolution said, there are many factors.

yes indeed, there are many factors,
it's not about black or white.. you have plenty of poor kids that are smart, or rich kids that are dumb,
but it's just sad to see it everyday

its a vicious cycle to keep the poor dow. really think about it
you are born poor with 5 sibs nd live in an area where sex is glorified
you go to school and see the same thing so you do it
you end up droping out in 5th form because of pregnancy
your man tells u if u love him then give out the sex(unprotected)
because of lack of education you do and end up with 5 kids, so the cycle continues
thats how stuff works where i live its a cycle man

RPAS, do you get paid by the thread? You seem to start many chatty threads.
It is natural for the species to have many offspring. Read up on physical anthropology. There is nothing "wrong" with people for acting upon their instictive mating drive. But there is definitely something wrong with people who try to control the activity of others.
Poverty is not caused by fertility. Poverty is caused by property trade.
Poor people who "want to work" and get "good jobs" are "reaching their full potential as human beings," but when poor people have children and care for them, they are "criminals," "low-lifes," and "dead beats" who "give up on life?" What a disgusting, anti-working-class attitude! You should be mad at yourselves.

People used to have big families in England in the 19th century and early 20th century as many children died young. My great-grandmother was one of 13, another was one of nine and there are many families, especially in the more industrial areas of Northern England, South Wales and Scotland, where towns would be full of families with 10, 15 and in some cases 20 children.
