What do you guys think of this party. Its unique on the Left because of its support for the Neo-Conservative agenda, of spreading "Democracy" abroad, it supports a Social-Democrat style Walfare state, but its support for Neo-Conservatism is ... Different. I suppose the concept being that spreading democracy, even Capitalist democracy is a positive thing. They are also vocally not anti-Capitalist, rather they want Social Democracy to work along side Capitalism.

Any Thoughts?

Reagan appointed members of them to his administration. If that doesn't tell you what you need to know about them I don't know what does.

They sound like a very interesting party.[/b]
The organization is pretty much dead. Most of the former members are Schatmanites turned neoconservatives.

It's the most right-wing "Socialist" party in the U.S.

The different "social democrats" and "democratic socialists" split during the Vietnam War. The Social Democrats USA were the faction which supported the Vietnam War, straight-up. They endorsed Nixon against McGovern. While the Democratic Socialists of America endorsed McGovern, I think.

The Socialist Party were the social-democratic faction which actually participated in the antiwar movement.
