Tips for a newbie band anyone?
We have a few songs written and play kinda melodic/technical/brutal death-thrash with some Irish folk influences...if that makes sense :P
Tips on recording stuff would be useful but any general advice would be good.

in my band, before i got sick of them and left, we used to pay to practice in a recording studio place, it was £7.50 each which does start to add up per month with the amount of practice you get in but, despite the price it really helped us focus. but you know i dunno whether thats a good idea i certainly couldn't keep paying that more than once a week

Aye. Well we practice every day in school so we have that advantage.
Did your band every make any rough demos/play any gig or anything?

you need to get a pretty big repetoir of songs if you are playing gigs, in our band we have about 50 odd songs not all oginals of cause but its good to have some covers just for audience apeal.
I live in a ruraul area so band practices are on the verandah and our drummers dad has a recording studio so its free :D but not everyone has that luxury
