And that's your own!
A seriously underrated band...Levellers encouraged a little anarchist crusty movement in the 90s. It meant so much more than those hippies in the 60s/70s. It had real ideals. Folk and Punk make such fantastic sound together.
So why arent they mentioned more? They have their own festival back in England, and it's so lovely and full of people who totally embrace the 'living your life for yourself' , anti capitalist lifestyle. Its inspiring. So any of you punk and folk/country fans should find them methinks. Crazy devilpossessed fiddle player!
Pure genius.
"Dirty Davey's down the front/ And he's met the coppers there /They'll be taking you in cos they hate your skin/ And you're dragged away by the hair /It's a kick in the head and a prison bed /And you tell me it's the law"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2tOeJpnnfYw <-- my favourite version ever.
Other songs everyone should listen to :) One Way, Liberty Song, Hope St, Beautiful Day, Sell Out, Riverflow. Oh and Battle of the Beanfield. The BotB made every hippy despise the police on a completely new level.
Gotta love the drunk bastards! Anyone else know them?
