And that's your own!

A seriously underrated band...Levellers encouraged a little anarchist crusty movement in the 90s. It meant so much more than those hippies in the 60s/70s. It had real ideals. Folk and Punk make such fantastic sound together.

So why arent they mentioned more? They have their own festival back in England, and it's so lovely and full of people who totally embrace the 'living your life for yourself' , anti capitalist lifestyle. Its inspiring. So any of you punk and folk/country fans should find them methinks. Crazy devilpossessed fiddle player!

Pure genius.

"Dirty Davey's down the front/ And he's met the coppers there /They'll be taking you in cos they hate your skin/ And you're dragged away by the hair /It's a kick in the head and a prison bed /And you tell me it's the law"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2tOeJpnnfYw <-- my favourite version ever.

Other songs everyone should listen to :) One Way, Liberty Song, Hope St, Beautiful Day, Sell Out, Riverflow. Oh and Battle of the Beanfield. The BotB made every hippy despise the police on a completely new level.

Gotta love the drunk bastards! Anyone else know them?

My dad likes The Levellers, so I was brought up listening to them, they're pretty good, I love One Way, and of course Beautiful Day, it's the ultimate song to listen to when driving somewhere on a nice sunny day (and in the rain, as we did last Wednesday coming back from Leeds :D ).

I like the vid you linked to Holly, brilliant song, especially the intro.

The first two albums by them are excellent...actually the first is my favorite. There is some great songwriting there. The punk-folk hyrbrid was happening a lot back when they where just breaking, in other bands who didnt have the political content as much...like in the US, Cordelias Dad.

Now that I think about it maybe its a time to listen to them again.

Levelling the land is a fantastic album. Sell out is the best track off that album aswell.
