I'm not sure if this belongs here so mods please feel free to move it to its correct forum if necessary.
Being a diplomat's kid, I go to a private international school that is full of rich kids (though not all). Seeing as its not a state funded institution and pretty much run like a business, is it ok to steal from it? I don't mean anything big like a computer (although that would be cool) but more along the lines of books. So far I haven't returned a few books for my English class and since I am graduating in a few months and they are in good shape I was thinking of holding onto them.
I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys on what you think.

They will probably move this to the DIY forum i would think by the post about stealing techniques.

Only if you really want it.
When I finish reading a book I usually throw it away or give it to someone else. After you read it, I guess it's better if you give the book to someone else who really wants to read it. That would be the "communist thing" to do.

I'm not. Just as a place of learning and all that, I wasn't sure if it felt right stealing from them.

Brasilia.

In many instances schools function much like factories. I would wholeheartedly encourage a worker to steal from or sabotage their factory, so by all means go and do it at school.

Oh, since it's a private school, SACK IT!

Why don't you just keep it for reference later?

Eh, too lazy for that.
I remember the central points/ideas of each book I read and pretty much ignore the details, and I like this system every much.
Plus, I have a hard time keeping my room in order already...If I dont throw out a about a ton of waste every month then I might as well live in a hogpen. :)
It already looks like a tornado just hit.

Well, I'm not too hot on dishonesty and theft, but I am not going to condemn you if you do take a few books away with you.

Well firstly I fully agree with Demogorgon. And secondly take whatever you need. Public or private. Just be careful.

Do you need to steal?
If you are in such a rich school, you probably have your needs already satisfied.

I'm in a rich school, but I'm not rich myself. Perhaps by Brazilian standards, but in my country I am middle class.
I absolutely despise the vast majority of the students here though. I go to school with the kids of politicians, business owners, etc. You know the famous Brazilian Formula One racer Nelson Piquet? His daughter is in my math class.
I'm not choosing to do this for political reasons, simply because I'd like a copy of some of these books and would rather not pay for them.

If you get caught, will go through what a worker would in that situation, or are you going to let your class privileges defend you?

If I get caught stealing from school? I would get in trouble...I don't get any kind of special privileges. Yesterday I had to serve detention for skipping class. I don't go to my parents like the rich kids and make them ***** and complain. That is very fucked up, but these rich fucks get away with it.

Well, when workers get caught stealing, they face jail, not detention.
Sometimes it is difficult to renounce privileges, they are very much ingrained it the way society is structured.

I don't really see a reason why you need to steal from the school itself when you could just as well steal your supplies from a store. As for stealing books, that doesn't sound like a bad idea unless your school keeps tabs on that or if they're really short on materials in which case you'll only be harming future generations.

My high school had this little cupboard thing that they used to keep stationery in to sell. I always used to take stuff from there.

Exactly in the same city as Jello.
Yes, I have known of people being jailed for stealing even less than a book, and for better reasons (a famous case: a woman jailed for stealing medicine for her daughter). Of course, there is a class issue here: those things happen to the lower layers of the working class.

one of the buildings at my school has been condemned and was vacated a few months ago, but there's still tons of good stuff lying around in the empty classrooms for some friends and i like to sneak in and steal stuff. the chemistry classroom still have lots of chemicals and stuff too (flammable liquids!), so i plan on taking some of those.

From what I can see here, there is a serious fuckup with class.

Definitely steal from your school if its a private institution. Try to make off with laptops or computers if possible.
