What would the interest be in a sort of Red Self Defense organization?

Such an organization would meet several times a month and comrades would partake in exercises to increase their physical capacity and capability. Sparring, boxing, wrestling, and other sports could pay a large part. Gun use, gun safety, and even organized group trips to gun clubs and ranges, as well as other activities, the goal of which would be to give comrades a sense of self-defense incase they ever need it, and also to help them prepare for the eventuality of armed struggle against the ruling class armies.

So how many would actually be interested in this? How many wish something of this nature existed in their locality? Perhaps we can plan to make this idea a reality.

well, this friday we're organising something like that, we're gonna get together with some friends (some of whom have martial arts experience) and if it works out, we'll do it on a weekly basis.

If the group grows, we might try some riot tactics too

The Anarchist Black Cross does a lot of this down in Florida, I know and the one in Chicago was moving in that direction, from what I had heard. Some kids in my area have been looking at this as well, but nothing is off the ground yet.

it shouldn't be too hard though, just get together with some mates, preferably with someone who has some experience and start from there.

yes, a bit like the black panthers trained themselves, not a bad idea

This is kind of like my militia idea. I like it and think that this is something that we really need. :D

Yes, the overall long-term goal would for it to become the launching board for a much larger organization tasked with preparing cadres of comrades for larger actions.

I like this idea a lot. If there is anyone in Wales here and are interested in setting one up PM me.

IMO way premature at best & likely to bring bad publicity.

A real challenge would be to see what we have to concretely offer to working people. I think we keep avoiding this because it's much harder than discussing theory, Venezuela, or playing guerrilla. No offense, i just think we have a great need to get constructive & overcome our self-marginalization.
