HALIFAX (CP) - A self-professed "race realist" who was roughed up by protesters in Halifax last month plans to return to the city next week.

Jared Taylor, who is with American Renaissance magazine in Virginia, says he is returning to debate St. Mary's philosophy professor Peter March. Taylor was prevented last month from giving a speech on the separation of the races by protesters who pushed him out a meeting room door at the Lord Nelson Hotel.

Taylor has filed a complaint with Halifax police.

St. Mary's University says it isn't sponsoring the debate and doesn't support or sanction March's presence.

In order for March to use a room for the debate, St. Mary's says the professor must pay for all expenses, including insurance, security and cleanup.

March is a controversial figure himself.

The philosophy prof drew the ire of Muslim students at the university in February 2006 when he posted controversial cartoons outside his office.

The cartoons depicted the prophet Muhammad.

March cited freedom of speech for putting up the cartoons, which were eventually taken down at the insistence of the university.

Unfortunately, this racist scum is coming back to Halifax. Something should be done...
According to the Halifax police chief, there will be a police presence at SMU during the debate.

so... it's a "Race realist" debating with someone who puts anti-muslim cartoons... Racists debating each other... I don't know whether that is good or bad but it does look like these Nazis are scared to argue against real opponents (kinda like normal politicians accually) but the grammer was slightly confusing, tell me if I understood right...

Jared Taylor isn't afraid to debate anyone. Last November Taylor was scheduled to debate Prof. David Divine of Dalhousie University in Halifax, but it was Divine who pulled out and refused to debate. I wont link to Taylor's site, but you can google him and see the people he has debated.

Denigrating Jared Taylor as a "Nazi" is erroneous. If you take the time to study hsi thought, you will see that he is not a National Socialist. Also, castigating Taylor as a Nazi is an insult to the victims of National Socialism.

Someone just bring a gun and kill the guy. I know it'll mean a 25 year prison sentence, but isn't there one person in the Halifax area willing to sacrafice that to commit such a just act?

I'd like to know when he's gonna be here, hopefully he's going to be participating in this debate on one of my days off :D

I'm in Oakville, and I probably won't be able to make so flip him off once for me :D

Sorry this article was the first I'd heard of him... but he is still a racist... I can't stand reading books that support racism... Racists are such Idiots, and there books usually seem to be self-glorifing rants about the supreme race...

update: the university pulled out of hosting the debate because of death threats made on a website. From what I understand, they're looking for a replacement venue, but it's incredibly short notice... I'm not holding my breath :(
