Its impossible to go left to right, Many Conservatives are closer to Socialism than Liberals are, there are Theologists that are also Anarchists, that believe that only God has authority and no man can govern or exploit any other man. There are Communists that are Stalinists and Communists that are Anarchists. There are Monarchists that oppose Free Trade, and there are facsists that also oppose free trade, but Liberals love free trade. you can't go left to right.

In capitalist society I would generally say Social Democracy/Conservatism are the two main political blocs of the bourgeoisie. On the left would be working class political theories like socialism, communism, anarchism etc. that advocate the overthrow of the bourgeoisie. On the far-right would be theories that advocate a society totally monopolized by the bourgeoisie enforcing totally rigid, authoritarian capitalist society like fascism. Monarchism and theocracy are both right-wing political tendencies (especially wherever they exist in capitalist societies) but in general they're products of feudal societies and are counter-posed to capitalist, republican society as a whole.

One should however note that several Social Democratic-parties have real backing from the working class.

This reminds me of a quote I read a few years back.
"There is no left or right; only the system and those who oppose it".

are you saying that being on the left is that you don't belive there should be a system? and if that's so, isn't that hypocritical? since what people on the "left" are pushing for communism, anarchism etc.. which in a way is a system... a system of the people working for a better life for everybody? just wondering

The definition of the political tendencies really depends on the issue at hand whether economic or personal.
