School, work issues, local and national politics, and perhaps other issues of local relevance (obviously I can't help you here).

The political role of the education system and its role in class struggle.

Play Rage against the Machine so load it busts the ears drums of everyone on the block  (but seriously) complain about pointless rules (like no Mp3s in class or other such rules)... get them intrested by making Issues relate to them... Oh and I know some ppl down in Cork, If I see them on MSN I'll tell them to drop by (tell me where it is)...

Get in touch with the Rossport solidarity lot, get a load of leaflets and materials, and perhaps even try to get people to come up by coach or something.

An actual practical solution to a mainstream current affair will be worth more of your effort than selling marxist literature..

My advise is try and doing something different every week so that people have a reason to keep coming back.

While you can and should have literature and badges and similar for sale, this shouldn't be your main concern. You are trying to get socialist ideas out into the public, not see shit to make money.

One option is to pick an issue that has been in the media a lot, that has generated controversy and do a leftwing critique of both the issue, the parties involved and the media coverage.

Don't try and use to much Marxist slang or rhetoric, you want to communicate with people, and most people don't know what the bourgeois and the proletariat are. Using phrases like "working class" and how much the "upper classes" are screwing them over is one option.

Don't swear too much around middle age or older people, unless they are swearing a lot.
Don't look the typical punk unless that is your target audience.

Most of all, have fun and don't get discouraged. If you do get discouraged, become an anarchist, we don't have to do that sort of thing every week :P.

I'll see if they'll at least check it out...

Well seeing as you're in britan this may not work but usually when we in the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigades conduct mass line and talk to people about socialism or hand out papers and leaflets, we attract people through some sort of guerilla theatre. Usually we get in the Orange Guantanamo jumpsuits and handout fliers and papers and talk to the people who ask about it.

Yes,it is.

We work with them. They have their own stalls, and they dont want any political affiliation. We were having stalls on rossport not very long ago when the police were beating protestors but that hasnt been in the media recently.

And Apathy your advice is sound :)
