The chap I was going with, a member of the Irp's, decided he'd go to the protest at Croke Park instead - leaving me with no-one to go with :(
But he didnt go to that protest either as he "felt unwell" - or generally couldnt be arsed :P
So sadly I didnt go in the end, it would have been nice to take a few customary photo's. <_<

RTÉ says there was 600 people.
RTÉ News (http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/0224/9news.html) the video is down a bit
It looks like there were quite a few WSMers there.

And come someone please inform me how exactly playing foreign games in Croke Park reinforces/legitimises British imperialism?
Also, if there's such an opposition to foreign games being played at Croke Park, why weren't there any RSF or like minded people there a fortnight ago when France were playing rugby there?

I don't have a problem with foreign games myself, I don't even use that term. If you'll notice I was just quoting the lad.
I played soccer, aussie rules and gaelic football at different times.

good question about the France match, wouldn't know cos the IRSP wasn't involved in those protests. I don't think garrison games should be played at croker, but then I didn't object to the special olympics; my club helped fundraise for it actually.
I have more of a problem with the west brit minded Irish rugby team than with the english team, those poshos.
I think the main outrage was about the brit anthem, which is understandable considering the history of the brits massacring people on the same ground.

Boo fucking hoo if they won't play the national anthem, I'm not particularly pushed about it. And people wonder why the Protestant community is so hostile to a united Ireland where it's blasphemy not to play a national anthem at a rugby game. I suppose you still think Britain wants to hang on to Northern Ireland too?
I know what the phrase "West Brit" means, I was wondering how you would apply it. What exactly would be positive about playing Amhrán na bhFíann over Ireland's Call? It's good to see the good "internationalists" of the Republican movement are so caught up in trivial national anthems.
No, I'm from the Northside actually. You seem to forgot that some of the staunchest working class areas in Dublin are on the Southside though.
I wasn't saying No To Foreign Games to you but to the sectarian muppets who never bothered to protest Foreign Games until it was England playing. There wasn't a fucking word from them when it was France playing.

In case you forgot, the team represents the whole of Ireland which includes quite a lot of unionists who aren't that thrilled about an anthem written about killing Brits.

Nope.

For fuck's sake its a bloody song! THey let us play Amhrán na bhFíann in England! And anyway, God Save The Queen was played in Croker during the Special Olympics...

Sectarian, what a bunch of rubbish. You don't even know what my religion is you gobshite.
The IRSP wasn't even involved in the protests, nor do they really care. I was speaking in a personal capacity obviously. Since you've accused me of being a sectarian for absolutely no reason I'll just accept that you give up as you have nothing legitimate to say.
I think it's rather funny that it's not an issue to the liberals like BOZG when the rugby team are offended by Amhrán na bhFíann, but when republicans are, oh god help us, we must be evil sectarians! As long as we don't rock the boat by offending the middle class west brits, anything but that!

There's a slight difference. You claim to be Internationalists, most working class people are still trapped with some nationalist sentiments.

Actually, much of Munster rugby (from what I know) but particularly rugby in Limerick is predominantly working class.

Bullshit. My 2nd cousin plays for Clonakilty and Munster. He just recently dropped out of the Irish U19 international squad because of studies. He came from a farming background, not an elitist snob hole.
Also, a lot (if not most) of the Munster team came form a working class or lower middle class background.
Granted, going to a private rugby school helps but generally it dosen't matter where you come from. Although, things might be different up north.
