Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Peter Pace also said Jakarta and Washington should continue to strengthen their "bond of friendship".

In a press conference after a meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
Peter Pace had told the press that "It is natural for two democracies to reach out to each other and depend on each other,"

Pace is in Indonesia for talks on military and defense cooperation with Yudhoyono and other government officials, including Defense Minister Juwono Soedarsono and Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda.

Pace also said that Indonesia and the US can share ideas about how the two countries provide protection for each country people and how Indonesia and US participate in peacekeeping operations.

i say this is bullshit, what kind of peacekeeping operations?against terrorism? well there's no more terrorist threat in Indonesia.

I think US is strategically encircling China, if at all a conflict breaks out in the Future.

Jamaah Islamiyah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jama%27at_Islamiya)

What about this group comrade ? Their profile is more or less equal to al-quaeda. All the Bali,Manila bombings are their handy work it seems. They also have been accused for sheltering Ramzi Yusuf (who had an hand in WTC bombing in 1993) in his attempt to assasinate pope John Paul 2 in 1994.

Jamaah Islamiyah didn't exist in Indonesia, as far as i know. and Abu Bakar Baashir, the man that suspiciously been involved with JI (Jamaah Islamiyah), by the US, had clearly has nothing to do with Jamaah Islamiyah.

The US obviously doesn't think especially with a few terrorist cells operating. Besides, Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population which is definitely enough to get US interests in their "War against terror". So the US gives Indonesia economic help and overlook Indonesia's actions in East Timor and Indonesia cooperates with the US.

Comrade,
It has been some time since I was back in Indonesia however, we as communists who have spent time in Indonesia or currently live there, cannot deny that Islamic nationalism is on the rise of Indonesia. This has to be stopped, however, I do not think that this should be done through legislation. Rather, it should be done through organizing the masses and allowing them to realize their revolutionary potential through mass struggle. The biggest problem in Indonesia is that there is no anti-revisionist party to organize the working class and peasantry and pose a left alternative to the right-wing Islamic reactionaries.

in Fact , there are, but they just to scared to show their existence.because the government would surely criminalize them if notice that this kind of organization or a party exist in Indonesia.and that's a dilema, we want a revolution, but we are too scare to show our existence.so for the mean time, we stay underground.

I agree with that sentiment.

And taking control over the (in their view) "unstable" oil supply (Iran, Iraq) means controlling the growth and economic and social life in China. And now this.

The U.S. is already at the chinese border (Afghanistan).

The PRC really doesn't feel threatened by the US presence in Afghanistan. Actually, it's probably a boon for them as it means more Islamist extremists from Xinjiang will be fighting the US rather than the Chinese government.

Yeah, this is true. China has actually cooperated with the US in Afghanistan in the past. They shared intelligence and China sent an intelligence gathering jet at one point. The two countries even recently took part in a joint naval excercise. This is just the US trying to pusj it's influence in other parts of the world.
