I'm taking German in school. Right now we're working on these author projects, and I had the good fortune of picking Bertolt Brecht, who, some of you may already know, was a Marxist.
Most of his plays were political, so obviously that's going to be a big part of my speech, and we can gain some bonus points by reading a selection of our author's and explaining what it has to do with their main literary theme.
I'm planning on reading this short story by Brecht, but I'm not quite sure what it has to do with Marxism, so any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated by me.
Here's the story in German:
Erfolg
And here's the translation:
Success
Mr. K saw an actress walk by and said: "She is pretty." His companion said: "She had recent success because she is pretty." Mr. K became mad and said: "She is pretty because she had success."
