among many sick things, and how they try their hardest to add their fucked up twist to things.
I was watching the CNN Espaņol Interview of Hugo Chavez. and the reporter asked him something along the lines of; "isn't you presidency a dictatorship dressed as a democracy?"

I think Chavez asked her why she feels that way or what she bases that on and she said something along the lines of;

"your opposition does not think is a good idea that your presidency's national assembly is filled with only chavistas" to govern the country, why not try to hear those opions and take them into consideration?

Chavez goes on to say that he believes that's not true! "our national assembly has different people not just chavistas"

The CNN then stresses; "BUT THEY ALL SUPPORT YOU" (in a sort of sarcastic tone)

Chavez looks at her sort of strange and says... "well of course! they support the government and the path that we want venezuela to go in, they support the revolution and our path towards socialism" Then he points out how during his presidency the national assembly has not physically faught the opposition and vise verse, like in years passed, in passed governments an he also makes some other key arguments.

The reported then told Chavez; "maybe you guys dont beat each other up no more. but a President is not supposed to have all this power to himself. there should be split decisions amongst the government, the opposition members of congress and the people for it to be a true democracy, however you have centralized everything into your hands and you get to pick and appoint who you want in as heads of different branches of your government, etc. etc.

"you only pick those who you feel will be loyal to your version of government, isn't that pretty much a dictatorship?" she adds.

Chavez goes.. Not at all! where do you get this stuff from? that I appoint the Public Prosecutor? The the controllers and my supreme court chiefs??"

CNN then tell him very surpriced... "But Mr. President, the day they took their oath they were wearing their robes and were cheering and shouting "UH-AH- CHAVEZ NO SE VA!" (chavez won't go!)

When? Where? who told you this lies? says chavez all confused

CNN Reporter: I read it! and plus someone told me too..

Be-careful what you read!! he tells the CNN reporter (while he is laughing)

____

Chavez then clears up the whole thing to her..

Here's my observation and my question..

Why is it so hard to believe that MAYBE a President actually has support from most of his government?

Or that more than half of the country supports him and his plans?

Why can't government officials cheer, sing and rout for their commender in chief?

Why must they twist EVERYTHING to make this guy seem like some sort of crazed evil dictator?

How many times are they going to ask him if he is a dictator, or trying to make him seem as that and an evil communist trying to imitate Fidel Castro?

To many, Chavez seems like a radical! he is a threat to democracy, and a destabilizer of the region and so on... I know why this things are said, and who is saying them. because he is "not following orders" and not playing by the imperialist rules. and since they own the Media, there for control the entire brainwashing machine to the peoples brains.

---wow! im glad i see beyond all this bullshit now.

and an other thing.. when this guy (Chavez) is stressing his points and plans to turn Venezuela into a Socialist Nation and all this reforms and such. I always hear some fuck reporter saying something along the lines of.. "THAT IS WHAT HAS MANY PEOPLE NERVOUS!" or "THATS WHAT PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO HEAR"

ok.. so my question is.. whow exactly are "MANY PEOPLE and LOTS OF PEOPLE????

The Bourgeoisie media has always been Bias in favor of their class interests. They attack leftist movements, all the while supporting brutal right-wing dictatorships as long as they stay in line, Bourgeoisie media is the height of hypocrisy.

yeah.. but is sad because do you realize how many average people don't see it like we do now?
I used to be one of them! I can't stress enough how good it feels to have an ACTUAL VIEW! as opposed to what they have fed me since I was a kid..

I've never liked CNN, the style they use to present the news annoys me greatly, while they never seem to have a very wide scope of coverage. Until we get a major indie news channel, BBC News does me nicely.

It's a pleasure to know that you broke free of the intellectual fetters which the ruling-class imposes on people.

To be honest, comrade, you will rarely find the bourgeois media upholding anything which the Revolutionary Left or other progressive forces do.

I suggest you watch Al-Jazeera a bit more, though. ;)

The English Al-Jazeera isn't available on US TV's (unless you buy a satellite or something).

CNN is evil, and Fox is the even worse, laugh at it... laugh at the rednecks who take this stuff seriously... 'cause that's the only thing you can do (that and watch Al-Jazeera off the Internet)

America is far closer to dictatorship than Venezuela. There are these two parties, who have different rethoric but the same actions. Many states have had the same government (Democrats or Republicans) for decades. Many people see it pointless to vote on anything but Republican or Democrat - and many continue despite what their party actually does.

The US is simply an empire, while many of it's citizens still believe they live in a democracy.

Simple put the US is a single party, (in the sense that the democrats and republicans function the same and serve the same interests, and prevent all other parties from ever having any chance) plutocratic imperial replublic.
So the US saying it's a defender of democracy and that Venezuela is a dictatorship is a compleat joke.

You mean you don't get Al-Jazeera English where you live?

It's based in Qatar, I believe. They have a stance which is almost sympathetic to the Left. They certainly portray Chavez and Fidel in a positive light.

I get it here in Pakistan, but I don't know whether its available where you live. It's also available on the internet, apparently...try that!

Not on regular or cable US TV and due to 9/11 there's pretty much no hope for increased Al-Jazeera broadcasting stations in the US.

See? This is why we need to replace and oppress the bourgeois media post-revolution. They'll never say anything but Capitalist lies. It's their form of Mind Control, and it works well.

One thing I like about Fox news is theres always a supposedly left guy on the show that shows the other side.

For example the 'right' guy was saying poor Americans should'nt accept oil from Hugo Chavez because he's an evil Dicatator, but the 'LEFT' guy was saying that they should dispite him being an evil Dictator for pragmatic reasons, hahahah, I don't know I find that funny.

Its funny but sad at the same time that people believe this and its all they know.

It's tragic, to say the least. They always have some "liberal" who is a stereotypical milquetoast. It's like those films the Nazis made about Jews.
