I've seen "Land and Freedom" and "The Wind that Shakes the Barley". Can anyone recommend any other films by him as those two were fantastic. Also if you haven't seen those two films I recommend them.

You might be able to see 'Kes' which is a very good film

'Looks and Smiles' is impossible to get but very interesting

'Family Life' is intense - also impossible to see.

The TV film that started him off 'Kathy Come Home' is still very good too. Forty years old and still gripping.

He did a film about the general strike in Britain as well. I can't remember what it's called. Can't help but feel that everyone of his films follows the same basic plot though, working class hero joins movement, working class hero fights bravely, working class hero gets killed or removed in some way by counter revolutionaries from the inside, film ends. Having said that I greatly enjoyed land and freedom and the wind that shakes the barley.

I agree with BB, always follows that plot. You missed the fact that there is also the exact same debate between the revolutionaries and counter-revolutionaries at some point. I'm thinking of that framed debate over collectivisation in Land and Freedom and that debate in the Republican court in The Wind that Shakes the Barley.

'Carla's Song' is pretty good 'Navigators' (I was an extra in that film) is ok, but 'Sweet Sixteen' is a brilliant film. Also 'My Name is Joe' is a very good film.
