Thanks for that Jim; pity Mr D seems to have read little of this material, and to have understood even less.

I note also that there is much missing from this list, not the least of which is the work of Guy Robinson (to my mind the best Marxist commentator on Wittgenstein -- mainly becuse he actually understands W's work, and can explain it in simple English).

I e-mailed him once. He did reply! But he seemed slightly insane or really really pissed off.

I spent some time on his discussion forum in the past and while there are only a few people on it, there were some good discussions for a while. It doesnt work so well when Ralph is on his own !!

On one occasion a friend of his having died, he posted a letter his friend had sent him gently chiding RD for his anger and suggesting to him he needed to respect people's opinion a bit more. While I am generally very suspicious of the language of respect, this was in no way a cliched letter.

Thats a couple of years ago and I still remember the tone and sentiment of that letter. It was a bit of constructive criticism that Ralph needs, but he is well meaning and its hard to criticise someone who tries......hard but not impossible.
