I can't post the actual article because it is copyrighted but basically, a condominium company has told a woman that she has to remove the American flag in front of her house or they will start fining her for it.

Article. (http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-ewdflag0206.artfeb06,0,5464860.story)

My question does not directly relate to this article but there is a connection.

My question is, when do the wishes of the community supersede those of the individual?

when the actions of the individual threaten the survival of the community.

And displaying a flag doesn't really strike me as threatening survival, stupid as it may be.

The basic unit of the species is the community. Individuals are born and die--the community continues. No issue should be looked at by workers as "me versus them" or "us versus them." That's how the capitalists look at things.

Whenever the interests of the community outweigh those of the individual.

Perhaps this thread should be merged with this one (http://www.revleft.com/index.php?showtopic=62303)?

Similar subject but the question/topic at hand is different. It's best to keep threads in Learning separate to avoid confusion unless they are asking the exact same questions.
