A Joke? I don't think so at all, they did make things a lot better for the workers in france. They, in the May Revolution of 1968, raised the wages. They also lowered the number of workhours, reduced the age for retirement, and the right to organize. They showed that with very little organizing, you can change and stir-up borgeouis culture and take some power back. Though they didn't get what they wanted, they did not feel they failed.
For a little information on the may revolution go to http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~rbadolph/Timel...il/may1968.html (http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~rbadolph/Timeline/detail/may1968.html)

Im refering to situationist theory, not to student crises of 68 and its gains. You know of course that situationism was only one of many theories defended by different groups of students.

To fully understand Situationism, you have to read Guy Debord's "The Society of the Spectacle". That is the modern up-to-date Das Kapital basically. Situationism is modern marxism with no state control. It is somewhat like communist anarchism. but they even are critical towards anarchism.
