Hate Is Art

Do people believe it's possible?

As an example, take TS Eliot, who is by all accounts a fantastic poet, but was a furious anti-semite in his personal life?

How about Ezra Pound, who again, was a brilliant poet, but spent much of the war with Mussolini as a Fascist.

Is it illogical for a Marxist to admire two anti-semites and right wingers, even though they wrote some of the most beautiful poetry inthe English language?

I think it's foolish to dismiss obviously great art just because you disagree with the artists politics. You have to evaluate any art on its own merits.

I don't think there's any conflict in saying, "I love your art but I hate your politics." It's only when art is used for propaganda purposes that conflict occurs.
