Hangover? Bloody Mary.
Smelly/dirty carpet? Vaccuum. Then sprinkle baking soda all over the carpet. Vaccuum again.
As far as home remedies go, I use vodka or baking soda for EVERYTHING.

Hangover: Drink a lot of water, hangovers are caused by dehydration and lack of sleep. If you drink water while drinking alcohol, you won't get hungover.

If you get the hiccups, there is a pressure point right under your bottom lip above your chin that calms your diaphram down if you press it.

vinegar to replace household cleaners, can use on sinks, floors, windows, toilets, you name it.
for an ear-ache, soak a piece of cloth in vodka and then hold in ear (haven't tried this one but told it works)
for allergies, make a tea out of dried stinging nettle leaves (only the stem of the plant stings you), its a natural antihistamine
for a cold or just a generally stuffed nose, take a fresh poplar leaf bud and insert into the area between your inner cheek and upper gums. keep it there for a while. if it hits your tongue it will taste hella-foul, but works great to keep nasal passage clear.
for arthritis, sting stiff area with stem of stinging nettle plant to relieve stiffness

When you have a sore throat or cough, grate some ginger into water and let it simmer until it's reduced and is a brownish colour, smelling strongly of ginger. Add some honey and drink while it's as hot as possible. You can also add some turmeric for it's antiseptic properties. Best thing for sore throats- and it doesn't make me burp like menthol.

Right, I have Flu at the moment, that sounds like a nice tastey remedy, so I'm going to try it and report back to you!
Thanks! :D

Massage the area on your foot that corresponds with the area of your body that is experiencing discomfort.

I had heard about something similar with the ears, but this is wierd as hell... Anyone know how either of these things work?

Do you mean how does it work in the body, or how well does it work? I'm definitely not an expert on reflexology, but, from what I know, the nerves in one area of the body have a certain area in the body that they also correspond to, or something like that.

I thik they work in a similar way to acupuncture- by stimulating nerves/pressure points. This means that they can relieve pain (possibly for reflexology, for sure for acupuncture) but aren't curative.
