View Full Version : Tailoring Propaganda to Area?

I've been thinking that a good way to radicalize the proletariat is to tailor propaganda-pieces to the local demographics, or even demographics of individual workplaces if possible. Any tactics/tips/sources on gathering this type of information?

***DISCLAIMER***I am in no way supporting or advocating the use of any of these techniques, I am merely giving them as examples.
one way of spreading leftist propaganda in big warehouse like stores like wal-mart or costco is by getting large pieces of construction paper or poster board and writing something ot than getting like 8-12 helium filled balloons and tying them to either side of the construction paper/poster board and letting them float to the tops of the stores (inside of course).
Also tagging billboards, or more or less editing them.
Also the destruction of property like a McDonalds for instance, you can cut the power and unscrew those white McDonalds signs they put on their buildings and replacing them with large posters tied or attached in some way to picket sticks and place them in the place of the former sign. Theres multiple ways of spreading propaganda, you just got to look at a place and use your imagination on how to change it for the better :)

Depending on where you live, it should be relatively easy to find demographic information online. I can't help you because I have no idea where you live, but search around on the internet.
Ahab: I'm guessing you've read "An Anarchist Cookbook" by Crimethinc.?
Oh yeah, I'd recomend that book as well, it talks a lot about propaganda.

Government sites will usually have state and national demographics. However, I'm not quite sure how you're going to get demographics info. on local workplaces without conducting some sort of survey their yourself.

Hmm...Statewide is a start. But County or City info would be more useful.

It has a really good section on how to fight fascists though. Anybody who doesn't have it, I would reccomend getting it.

If your looking for business demographics you will need to contact your local Economic Development Center. This government agency deals with business information such as business demographics, areas that are slated for economic develpment (tax breaks, subsidiaries etc). With that information you will be able to determine what types of businesses are located in which sections of the city/county your looking to work in and be better able to tailor your campaign.
For information on people such as areas of concentration and aggregate incomes, job types and such you can start with the Community Development Center, this is similar to the EDC but deals with the soft product known as people.
Statewide and county information on a widescale can be located at Cenus.gov also.
What I would suggest is that instead of vandalism that contains your message, tailor your campaign to resemble more mainstream propaganda. This lends itself to a more legitimage organization and more importanly does not exclude or potentially offend the people you want to reach. Once you have done either of those things, you have lost your target audience.
Remember to keep things simple and concise, if you are quoting statistics, have supporting information and present it in the easiest way to understand.
In the newspaper industry, most papers are written for a fifth grade reading level, the NY times I believe is written at a sixth grade level, that gives you an idea of the reading comprehension skills of the general public.
Good luck on your campaign.
