Ruling A Nation

If you could run a small nation, say the size of Nicaragua, how would you run it? I'm asking because I plan on studying law to later on become president of Nicaragua, my home country. I already have my philosiphy on how I would run it, but I'm just curious.

I'd imagine that nearly everybody here, with the exception of anarchists, would run their country in a socialist manner, if run it at all. If you were to become president of Nicaragua, would you rule it similar to how Chavez rules Venezuala?

I would step down to allow voluntary associations, councils, unions, and syndicates to organise democratically and without hierarchy.

I would just leave all decision making up to worker's councils. No reason to fuck up a system that would enable democracy.

I would establish a strong, centralized state apparatus with a vast secret police network and personally see to the control of all aspects of life for those living within my nation. Dissidents and traitors would be dissapeared and made to work in slave labor camps. I would also build a powerful military in order to conquer my neighbors and make room for gigantic industrial bakeries that would manufacture all of the delicious sweets I desired 24 hours a day. All money would go towards that and the war machine; social services would be provided by our enslaved neighboring nations' peoples.

I wouldnt rule a ****ry, if i was left in charge i'd erase whatever name of my country was, get rid of any borders, dissolve whatever government stood and go do whatever the fuck I wanted to, living my life the way I would want to without any leaders or politics, and everyone else could do the same

Assuming that we would have to take traditional state control, I would dissolve the army, hold a referendum on how we should spend the extra funds, introduce the anti-vote, tax the rich more and the poor less, order public investigations of every major corporation in the country to check for corruption and general bad ethics and exploitation, get rid of formal dress code for government procedures and debates, try to meet as many average people on the street as possible, introduce as many renewable energy sources as possible, make water meters mandatory, and probably get a bit of sleep after all that.

Continue where Ortega gave up. He introduced neo-liberal policies, made class colaberations and almost gave up the fight against capitalism . Make the sandinista's and the FSLN a revolutionary peoples movement again, and learn from the mistakes in policy they made.

If I could rule a nation, I would take up all the land and redistribute it evenly. I would have everyone live on land for free but work as government controlled farmers. The crops would be sent to government controlled bases and distributed out again. Than I would have many study medicine so that as a nation we would advance quicker. A nation with a common goal advances quicker. Than I would build indistries to mass produce products that the people need. Of course before all this I would have to build schools to educate the illiterate and ignorant. Than, when all were fed, sheltered, and educated, I would promote advancement socially, such as music and art.

You cant force communism into existance, least of all since ruling a nation destroys the possible of communism existing.

I would abandon all neo-liberal elements of the economic structure, refuse to pay back any loans my country has (the World Bank recently forgave Nicragua&#39;s debt so they give them new loans at higher interest rates) and reach out to Cuba and Venezuela for help with healthcare. Hey if you ever get elected Prez of Nicaraugua, please bring me on board as an advisor on the US, I should have my MBA in international relations by then, I&#39;ve got 1 more year till I recieve my BA. :D

First of all, I would get to power through democratic process. If that failed, than by force. I&#39;m not exactly a big fan of people&#39;s right to decide things as a whole. Most people are either corrupt themselves, or are ignorant in knowing how to go about helping their people and themselves. That is why I would first focus on feeding and sheltering everyone. Than educating and providing healthcare. Than, when all that was accomplished, I would try to increase the community socially. Oh and Guerrilla22, I&#39;ll keep that in mind.

How the hell do we all sound fascist? I agree, for the most part, with everything that you said, and I&#39;m pretty sure most people on here do as well. Also, there is no such thing as a communist country.

No, I use graffiti now to send messages. Now, all I can really do is protest for people&#39;s rights to get my name out. But as President, after getting Nicaragua set, I would work on surrounding countries, than all countries. R.A.R.E. is all I can really do now. I of course need to pay off the debts of Nicaragua, which I plan on trying to do with my own money. I am not rich but I am working on businesses to bring in money to use for the just cause. You might even hear about the one I am focusing on now, a clothes chain named, of course, R.A.R.E.. If there are any people interested in joining R.A.R.E., they can email me. Those people don&#39;t have to exactly agree with my views. Its not a military organization, simply an attempt to express emotions towards the injustices of the world. If there are people, however, interested in a military attempt to change the world, again, they can email me. I am not advocating violence, simply expressing that it may be neccecary. Do not take me for some militant fascist general looking to put himself in power. I simply emphasize on the importance of feeding, sheltering, educating, and providing health care above all other things. I would first legalize marijuana, and then consume all of the hashish in the country (I kid). After humping rainbow coloured pixies made of moondust for a few hours, I would take a workers wage. I would then abolish wages and set all prisoners free. Then I would toke up some more (yet again, joking). Schooling, free. My socialization of healthcare and abolition of all corporations would then begin. I would legalize gay marriage and abortion, and put taxes on religious institutions. I would comence my conversion of government power into autonomous trade unions, which would be democraticly crated and run. I would then abdicate.

Blak Sheep, I&#39;ve visited Nicaragua 2 times on humanitarian aid voyages. What are your opinions of Oretga coming back and his new policies? ALso where are you from in Nicaragua?

I am actually still waiting to see just exactly what it is that Ortega plans to do. My family ( on my father&#39;s side) is from Managua I think. They came to the U.S. under political asylum, my grand father was a lawyer and well you know, with the Sandinistas and all. Its actually quite funny in a way though because I support many of the things the Sandinistas did.

In the imperialist nations, there&#39;d be so much work to do. First you&#39;d have to nationalize all the natural resources, especially the natural gas, oil, coal, and other fossil fuels. Nationalize the banks, abolish the credit card industry, and cancel all consumer debt. Second, you&#39;d have to start de-capitalizing the government and expelling the majority of elected officials. Third, pardon Mumia and make him Attorney General. Fourth, try most of the government for crimes against humanity and execute them all at half-time during the Superbowl. Make income taxes more progressive. 100% death tax. Abolish regressive consumption taxes. Demand the GAO begin drafting proposals for reparations to first nations, third world, and survivors of slavery. This thread&#39;s too much fun. I was only joking about the public executions. i dont have many opinions that the others havent covered, though i believe that you would make a great leader and care for your people. I believe socialism is the way to go and that you should definitly reach out to Cuba for assistance, though with military revolution i would watch out for more than one enemy (i.e. the C.I.A)
