How do capitalists see the history of their social revolution? Where do you think the roots of capitalism are?
I was curious; wanted to understand the Martians better. ;)

Capitalism traces its roots back to the 16th and 17th century as the Imperial Nations of Europe began to spread their influence to Africa and the New World. It it as this time that we see the first joint-stock companies and stock markets, as well as the creation of insurance.

it really begins with the birth of nationstates in europe, wich spurred the developement of large cities, trade, trade law, and a middle class. this catalyzed technological growth resulting in the industrial revolution, and the birth of the market system. governments have ever sense been trying to harness the power of their own markets for their societies general benefit, sometimes the suceeded, other times they did not.
