What do people think of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Northern Ireland? It is a Republican organisation with alleged (though denied)) links to the 'Real' IRA - and has been accused of being its political wing. I am a strong Irish Republican (though English and living in Yorkshire) and I've applied to join but I'm wonderiong what's the best approach to the problem of the British in Northern Ireland - go through quasi-military/miltant/'violent organisations like the 32 Countrey Sovereignty Movement or through ballot-box democracy expressed in groups such as Sinn Fein...I really want to get involved in the Irish Republican struggle though...
Thoughts/comments./ideas?

I'd say Ballot box. Since this is an issue primarily related to the issue of nationalism, british or irish, transfering power in NI to the Irish government would just switch which group of people in NI are "oppressed". It should be done through democratic referendum.

The 32CSM is really small, though that is not a reason in and of itself to not join. The affiliation with the RIRA is not a good thing seeing as how they seem to have much less regard for civilian's lives than the other three IRAs. From what I know, the 32CSM is also not very active. I don't live in Europe though, so I don't know much about the smaller political organization in N.I. so somebody else can probably be a better helper than me.

1)Miniscule.
2)Riddled with bigots/ bitter ultra-nationalists/religious freaks.
3)Crap, boring politics.
4)Not even vaguely left-wing.
5)Connected to "IRA" paramilitary movements who have done fuck all apart from blow up an empty department store and Omagh city centre, killing tens of innocent people.
Five good reasons not to join.

Ok , as much as i'd like to agree with my party comrade on this one , i just cant although i don't support the IRA or sinn fein because their not left wing , the position of the north cannot remain the way it is ... "If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine" anyone denying that the occupation of the north is not an injustice ? ....

Thing about NI is that the struggle is largely nationalistic and religion-based. All we hear is news about bombs killing innocent people, teens being landed in hospital after punishment beating, Protestants blowing up Catholics and vice-versa. We just want it to stop.
However, if both "sides" stopped fighting and got together to decide their own fate it would be more beneficial. And why should people in the North want to unite with the Republic when it's being run by incompetent gobshites? If people in the North want to fight for a United Ireland, then it is the duty for people in the South to help create a Socialist Ireland that will benefit all.
