Firstly, if this might be a bit of a chit-chatty subject, feel free to move it there instead.

Poverty is one of the issues up for discussion at the forum
Dozens of street children have invaded a five-star hotel food tent and feasted on meals meant for sale at the World Social Forum in Kenya's capital.

The hungry urchins were joined by other participants who complained that the food was too expensive at the annual anti-capitalist get together.

The police, caught unawares, were unable to stop the free-for-all that saw the food containers swept clean.

The gathering in Nairobi is discussing social problems, including poverty.

A plate of food at the tent being operated by the prestigious Windsor Hotel was selling for $7 in a country where many live on less than $2 a day.

I would have preferred, 'Bono beaten and robbed by street kids', but this is great nonetheless :)

God, Bono pisses me off. The combination of his friendship with Bush and Blair and his "Fuck the Revolution" speech make me hate him so much. Though I have to admit, he does at least do better stuff with his money than most celebritys do.

Sounds pretty cool.

About Bono, I recently made a random photoshop of Bono being abducted by aliens...http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2194/bonoyo8.th.gif (http://img186.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bonoyo8.gif)

Now THAT is what I call acting for social change.

Maybe next time the WSF will make it a free buffet. Good show kids!

I think that this demonstrates the complete political vacuum that is the WSF. For years people have critiqued the WSF for being a carnival for social democrats to act like they are fighting capitalism and imperialism whilst not actually achieving anything. This is because the WSF refuses to actually take stands on any kinds of political issues, rather it just becomes a site in which people can talk, and then talk some more. Thus, it just becomes the theater of the political. It is true that numerous good organizations participate in the WSF however, this is because there is an absence of a real revolutionary alternative. The Mumbai Resistance Conference of 2004 was such an alternative.

These kids have demonstrated the uselessness of the WSF in one amazing demonstration.
