Trying to find a book or two to read up on Soviet history, and that means total history, from Revolution to Collapse.

I don't want any capitalist mouthpieces, but neutral, unbiased sources will be accepted, along with pro-leftist ones.

Soviet Union 1 (http://www.marxists.org/subject/ussr/index.htm)

Eye-witness reports, histories and analyses of the Soviet Union under four headings: Education, Health Care, Labour and Women.

The above link cannot be considered as a History though.

I think this should be as much neutral as possible. (http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/index.htm)

At my faculity we use Guizeppe Boffa's History of the USSR, and Isaac Deutscher's biographies of Stalin and Trotsky (for the early period).

Besides, what qualifies as "non biased"?

If you're serious, you have to start with John Reed's "Ten Days That Shook The World"
