Why bother building one. You can buy a good asian one for $20 off ebay. I could recommend some good models once I get home.

But then again, there's not much point in shortwave anymore. I like hooking mine up and listening to broadcasts from London, Cuba, or Rome, because it is cool. But is so much easier just to go to my computer and stream the same program over the internet.

Anything worth getting on shortwave is already available as an online stream.

I built a shortwave radio transceiver for 80 metres. Cost me about 25 euro including all extra materials (stripboard, solder, etc) and it fits in the palm of my hand.

I would like to get one for various frequencies to listen to world radio. Something better doing it that way rather than streaming it off the net :)

Buying a cheap one is always a better option( i have 40ch uniden and scanner) but the knowledge on the fundamentals and how to make these devices could
prove valuble one day. :D
