They're probably not as strict as it's not as much of a problem in Cuba as it is elsewhere.

No. Gov. seizes drugs (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/23/world/main676125.shtml)

Isn't it ironic when during the cold war, the rightist hardcores called pacifists and leftists "liberals" and "communists", and accused them of wanting the Soviet system installed in the US, when in fact the "communist" system in the Soviet union wasn't much liberal nor leftist at all.

I think Cuba is pretty strict on drugs, there is a famous general i believe his name was Ochoa, who was a member of the internationalist troops in Africa, and was accussed of drug trafficking or something, and he got executed.

I know China is really really strict, as well as Taiwan, you will get executed just for posession. :o

I know that Alan Ginsberg left Cuba (or was asked to leave, can't remember which) because of its stance on Marijuana.

That doesn't mean it wasn't Leftist. The Left includes totalitarian as well as democratic and anarchic forms of socialism.

I am pretty sure totalitarianistic is not a word.

Individual rights were not that restricted in the USSR anyway...

Regardless, the means of production were not owned by private individuals, and surplus value was not extracted from the workers by private individuals for financial investment...so yes, it was leftist.

Yes, it was privately owned; by the state. And surplus value was extracted by the managerial class to enrich themselves and the inner party members.

Because as you know, being chauffeured in ZIL limos does not hint at differinng class interests at all.

For some time now, I'm pretty sure that there has been a consensus on this board that the Soviet Union was state-capitalist. There's no need bring up the issue again.
