Has it already come on?

I have to watch it for my government class and write an essay on it. :(

I just watched it. They appauded way to much, 62 times. Did anyone else think it was really random when he started talking about that Congoan basketball player?

The applause reminded me of Stalin's speeches, where everyone was afraid to be the first to stop clapping, so people were clapping so long they installed a bell that they rang when it was time to stop applause. <_<

this state of the union was just another cry from the GOP saying they would lower taxes to demolish deficit, while at the same time spreading gov. services.

and in any case they didn't help us at all.

I would have chosen not to, but as I said earlier, I had to for a class.

did anyone see the democrat response from jim webb? I loved how much boureois factioning was evident when he talked about how ceo's make 400 times as much as workers. Facts like that will hurt the republicans and thus help the democrats in the short term, but webb fails to realize that the truth only inspires the proletariat to revolt.

I watched some clips from the CNN website, barely seems like there was any differance between this one and last years.

You mean this (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/presaddress.html) state of the union address? It's the only one worth watching.

Bush contradicted himself in his speach. First, he mentioned that taxes should be reduced, as well as governmental laws, in order for private corporations to grow and save us all from regulation. A little bit later, he said that "we" must cut down on oil and start to use environmental friendly fuel.

We all know corporations, without laws and regulation, will do everything to skip environmental laws and taxes. That is, if I am the owner of a car company, it will be more expensive for me to build environmental cars due to government laws - thus weaker laws will be better for me. But at the same time, Bush expects me to mind the environment somehow?

Then he speaks of the terrorists as some kind of huge global organization, just about to create this global totalitarian dictatorship. Right. They fought amongst warlords in Afghanistan for 20 years, hell, they couldn't even control the whole country - how the hell would they manage to even control one continent, let alone amass millions of soldiers and somehow come all the way to the US and defeat their army???

The whole speach sounded, to the ignorant, idealistic. But for those who know how the world really works, it sounded like something Bush pulled out of the deep of his dark corporate farthole.

i too had to watch it for class. what in the world was he saying about health insurance reform? nobody seems to know. i think the most important thing about the speech was not what he said, but what he didnt say. he never mentioned the gulf coast. escalating the war in iraq is more important than rebuilding our own home. fuck him.

I was thinking that it would be a really good drinking game to take a shot of beer every time there was applause.

But I had early morning classes today, so I'm pissed I didn't get to do it.

The man is a talking vegetable, but of all the dumb-ass speeches he's delivered in his time, from the 'Axis of Evil' to 'Mission Accomplished', this was the worst.

What about when he went on about the guy who saved someone from an oncoming train?

I personally think he's back on the booze.

At least the Senate committee didn't "give it a chance".
