(I don't know if I'm posting this in the right section, move it if you want)

Today I was discussing some school assignments with two of my class mates. There was a question like "Who do you consider a hero?"
I told my class mates my answer to that question was "Che Guevara". Then one of my class mates asked me who Che was!!! I asked him if he was making a joke, but he told me he was serious and that he didn't know who Che was

A lot of people don't, especially younger people (older people will probably have heard of him via the news). At your age (which makes me sound old, even though iIm only 20), I didn't know who he was exactly, although I knew that he was "the guy on the t-shirts".

Well, I heard of him when I was about 11 years old or so. Most of my class mates also know/heard of Che. I must agree most of them don't know his live, but they do know he took part in the Cuban Revolution.

A lot of youths these days are having trouble with basic geography so you shouldn't be too shocked if they don't know who Che Guevara is (even if they wear a Che t-shirt). It actually makes your job of explaining Che much easier.

Exactly! Get some red propaganda in there while you can :D

I knew who Che was since I was pretty young (at the ripe old of age of 21 now!) and always said to myself "I wanna be a revolutionary like Che Guevara!" even though I didn't know the details of the Cuban Revolution. I just knew he fought to make the world a better place.

I didn't know who he was 2 years ago. I've seen his picture several times before that. I just regarded him as "that revolutionary guy"

my teacher didn't know who he was. I showed him a picture of Che, to jog his memory, but he say's he's never seen that picture before.

well, it looks to me like we have a conspiracy on our hands. The US and US backed television companys are sending subliminal messages via reality tv shows that make the brain naturally forget the words "Che" and "Guevera" and, of course, "Allende."

i'm sorry, dear. your words fail to make an impact on me.
99.9% of people i have spoken to know nothing of che guevara, lenin, fidel castro, communism, socialism, south america, asia...etc., etc...

It hapens to me all the time. It seems that the older people has forgotten and the young don't give a crap if he did something for the world or not. All that people care about these days is to have cable TV and a McDonalds nearby. It's sad.
