First time posting, wanted to get some traffic and bounce ideas around. Sitting at home in a quiet corner reading Marxist books leads to the desire to share this information. I have composed a few posts on these topics on my blog and would like forum members here to give it a friendly perusal. Comments, suggestions, and constructive criticisms are certainly welcome.

Interesting critique of the 'Free Market', I would have to say that from Capitalists your going to get a lot of arguments about that, saying the free market is an interaction between consumers and producers and that the 'invisible hand' is that interaction, that it does involve desicions, but those desicions are based on Supply and Demand.

Hi

I thought this was an interesting read and indeed have poosted a link on our discussion forum http://groups.yahoo.com/group/worldincommon/

My only substantive criticism is that you did not really dwell sufficiently on the key features of a socialist economy - the abolition of the wages system and the buying and selling transactions that characterise a capitalist economy and their replacement by a system of common ownership of the means of prodction, free access to goods and services and volunteer labour

Cheers

"you did not really dwell sufficiently on the key features of a socialist economy"

You are correct, I did not. The post was getting long enough, and I have been reading Melmann's "After Capitalism" in the meantime, and wanted to save these parts for a post on the book. In it, he talks about how workplace democracy works, about kibbutzim and Mondragon, etc, so having it firmly under my belt should flesh out a post about these key features. I appreciate the criticism and hope to deliver what you asked in a future post.
