The Marxist Internet Archive has been under sustained attack over the past few months and may have to close. :(

I have already made a post about it in Research and Online Classes (http://www.revleft.com/index.php?showtopic=61317)
The worst thing is from February they will totally be off line. And their mirrors can't support big media's like PDF's and MP3's.So better download those things before it collapses in february.

Not much I fear. I have downloaded all Marx&Engels,Lenin's and Trotsky's works which are available in PDF and written to a CD. I am thinking of making a zip file and share it with a file sharing program but I don't know which is efficient any suggestions ?

A torrent site seems like the best option, no?

This is a terrible blow to the spread of Marxism...Damn PRC.
There should seriously be a effort to save those works before they all are deleted.

Well, like all capitalist states they are threatened by the spread of Marxist thought.
There should seriously be a effort to save those works before they all are deleted.
They won't "all be deleted", MIA has made sure that no matter what happens to the website, their files will stay intact. Several mirrors exist all over the world and I'm sure many people have downloaded all the files on MIA.

The fear of the "People's Republic" of China is showing itself more and more when it comes to the dissemination of real Communist ideas, especially over the internet.
They are trying to show real working class revolutionaries in China that they will fight to the very end in order to ensure the "industrialization" of China and to remove any threat to the progress of this "industrialization" - that they want to crush their will to change the entire Chinese population and the solidarity of these people with the world at large.

So this is the great Chinese conspiracy against Marxists worldwide? A crude attack on some website? Come on, let's get serious.
With that said, I do hope that it stays up, and a big fuck you to whoever did it(ZOMG TEH CHINESE GOVERNMENT IS CENSORING COMMUNIZM!11!). In the meantime, in case it does go down, for the bare necessities, there's www.marx2mao.com

It was just their provider that shut down or something, so they recommended that visitors use a mirror. I guess marxists.org automatically redirects to one now.

of course it is a great attack to marxism--MIA is tbe biggest source of marxist literature in the internet, and it is of great help in spreading marxism.
the internet is the most advanced form of telecommunication that is available to the working class in first world countries, and not taking it seriously shows how backward you may be.
marx2mao is ok if you dig the stalinist left, but MIA covered every tendency in the marxist paradigm.

No, if MIA in its current form goes down, it's not a tremendous blow against marxism. There are a bunch of mirrors of the site, for one. If those were to disappear, then there would still be all the former MIA volunteers and readers who have the entire archive stored on their PCs, who could bring them back online. Failing that, there are still a bunch of sources, although admittedly not nearly as great. Even if every reference to marxism was to somehow disappear off the internet, it would still be possible to get the desired works on paper, it just takes a lot more effort.
But all of that is still speculation - as it currently stands, MIA won't be gone for a long time, regardless of whether these crude attacks are instigated by a bunch of kids, or the Chinese government that is supposedly fighting marxism by these crude methods.
