Around 95,75 miners from various trades unions: National Miners Union, Free Trade Union "August80"- miners department, Solidarity- miners department and Forum of Trades Unions, voted for strike in the referendum, against policies introduced by vice minister of economy, Paweł Poncyliusz member of conservative party Law and Justice. The agenda is named: 'Strategy for mining sector 2007-2015'. The agenda is about privatisation of coal mines in Upper Silesia, and about making miners pay flexible to the economical effects of mine. The trade unionists are arguying that privatisation has already made chaos in mining, and flexibility of profit will made bosses of mines hiding profit or transfering it to the company's associated with mines.
The minister stated that the "strike avanture' is made by the trade unioners from the profitless mines, and asked miners from those that are doing well to don't support them. As we can see in the referendum materials, they didn't agree with him. The prime minister Jaroslav Kaczynski sayied that both miners and also doctors and nurses that also run strike referendum have not reasons to go on strike.
The miners demand as well increasing employment in the mines that will improve the safety of work. They demand as well that all the works in mines should by done by the mine employees not by the not well qualified workers of co-executive company's. They stated as well that they don't want those people to loss jobs but to be hired after trening during the employment rise.
In 22 as well coal miners are going to march in Ruda Slaska, demanding punishment the people that are guilty for the death of 21 miners in the coal mine 'Halemba', 13 of them were employed not by mine but by the co-executive company. The accident took place in 21 october 2006

Miners started struggle for their elementar rights. Like all workers they have got right to work in safe conditions with salary that allows to live for their familiy's and their own. Without unstopped fear of lossing a job. They hav as well right to protest mines closes and redundancy. They have right to oppose decreasion of salary's which will happen after taking the goverment agenda 'Strategy for Coal Mining' The high salaries and posh miners is mith. Most of them despite the unsafe work which we all need is earning less then the average country pay. It is not true that miners aren't interested in the future of their industry and of their country. Miners are showing the bad strategy of goverment for a long time, this plans can end in fall of the coal sector. For example the redudancy plan (intruduced by soc. dems from Alliance of Democratic Left) which succed in lack of labour and dangerous conditions.
Not anyone, niether goverment have right to treat miners as more and more 'effective machines'. Goverment cannot not negotiate with miners and decide about hundreds thousands of people without their opionion. That's why we support the coal miners strike.
