Here are a collection songs that I love to dance to. Post your own, preferably with a youtube link:
Khia - "my neck, my back" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwm4uMdFRRk)
Justin Timberlake - "Sexy Back" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKa_peSjfD8)
R Kelly - "ignition (remix)" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS90yu--eIU) (this song is a necessary break down to give you time to give your girl a toot-too and run your hands through her fro.)
Missy Elliot - "on & on"
Outkast - "bombs over baghdad" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCizTy4v2KQ)
David Banner - "Play" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzgyTWbcHC8)
If you play all of those songs in a row amongst a group of friends, it is nearly impossible for a dance party to not ensue. Any other suggestions?

Try to steer away from peadophile artists with an obsession with pissing on their victims.
However hard question, never dance only to score, that's too lame.
Anyway Eat the rich by Motörhead's a good suggestion when in the right company ;)
However if your in the company of teenagegirls who like easy listening I would suggest anythings that's sleazy and lame enough to make it on MTV

Fast
Guided by Voices - Teenage FBI (from the album Wish in One Hand)
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400
Randy - Better than Art
Randy - Freedom Song
Sum 41 - Open Your Eyes
Blisterhead - Radio Riot
Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl
Ska-P - A La Mierda
Smash Mouth - All Star (still sounds good after all these years of overuse)
Slow Rock
Angels and Airwaves - The War
Pilfers - Climbing
Lifehouse - You and Me
E - Nowheresville
Everything above this sentence seems to have some sort of catchy beat.
Blues
Edwin McCain - I'll Be
Justin Timberlake - "Sexy Back"
http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-7502.gif I do not know of one single non-early-teenage-girl who doesn't hate this song. No, seriously, listen to it over and over again. See what happens.

Anything and everything even remotely resembling Celtic punk will probably do the job for me  Some of the songs, well... Fields of Athenry (esp. the Dropkick Murphys version, but any version will do), Boys from the County Hell (The Pogues), The Seven Deadly Sins (Flogging Molly), Loud 'n' Proud 'n' Bold (Neck), Ball of Alcohol (The Prodigals).
Now, my friends have rather diverse taste in music, but the songs that will work for any of us, really, are I Fought the Law by Clash, The KKK Took My Baby Away (Ramones), Help (Beatles), Emily Kane (Art Brut) and Teenage Kicks (by Undertones). ;)
No links, sorry, but I have a really slow connection, so it takes ages for me to load the youtubes site.

The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup... It's not so much a dance song, just everyone I repeat, everyone knows the words...
House of pain - jump around... gets people jumping
Usher - yeah
the suicide machines - new girl
the killers - somebody told me
the police - rehumanize yourself
I tried to vary those out and in a playlist together they might not make such a hot combination... but they're sweet all the same

Oooo, i approve your playlist. I could dance to all of that, except for the suicide machines. :)

I actually have never really danced, but I play the music for people to dance to. Me and a friend of mine just play violin (me) and drums (him) in sick beats and its always fun to get something going. Anytime theres a party, the violin is ready!

The best type of music to dance to in my opinion is house/drum and bass, here are the artists (I can't really put songs since most of the music i have in this genre is live recorded sets)
David Guetta (House)
The Young Punx (House)
Pendulum (DnB)
Prodigy (DnB)
and I'm sure theres others...............

Leila K - Electric
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dOU9HCvR2AM The shit!!!! <3
Also electroclash and electropop, like Ladytron, Alice in Videoland, Saint Etienne, Le Tigre etc.
I love to dance to ska and reggae to! Back beat in general rules.
And hip-hop like N.W.A or Infinite Mass.
If moshing counts I like Refused, Raised Fist, Dillinger Escape Plan, Skitsystem, Totalt Jävla Mörker, Path of no Return et cetera as well.

Anarchy in the UK is an almost perfect pop song! Nevermind the Bollocks is how pop music should sound.
As for dancing, anything by The Happy Mondays.

I'm going to have to second Michael Jackson.
Songs like Thriller and Billie Jean make it impossible not to replicate that crotch-pop thing he does. :(
Also when I hear "Spirit in the Sky" (lol) by Norman Greenbaum, I can't help but dance and clap. Which put me in a pickle when I was at a funeral where this was being played.

I was once told that ABBA is "anarchist dance party music" at an anarchist dance party and I have been unable to demonstrate otherwise. Therefore, ABBA is in.
Also, Michael Jackson, Prince, and James Brown.

The Smiths with This Charming Man. It is the one song who makes me happy, cheery, and just makes me want to jiggy. Listen to the song and youll understand why!
Also Is It Really So Strange? and Vicar in a Tutu. Two amazing songs by the Smiths.
