I think that without lenin we wouldnt have had a SU, and russia would have been capitalist. From here there could have been 2 outcomes. Russia and the rest of world become imperialist capitalists,
Or
we have a more democratic workers world

I think that Lenin did some good, but quite a lot of bad. He was too sudden with the revolution and didn't let it develop properly. His principles of war communism and then doubling back on himself with the new economic policy did not help his cause. Also he was a bit of a coward and let Trotsky do most of the work and he often ran from conflict and danger.
But he did do a lot of good like bring about the revolution and create a solid base and help to win the civil war.

when he called elections and the bolsheviks only got about 100 out of 700 seats in the assembly, he should have taken the message and not tried to force people to accept something they didnt want.

Was Lenin a good man?It depends on ones concept of
good. The quality of goodness is an abstract idea based
on preconceived notions by which one judges the world
around them. Can one give complete credit to Lenin for
bringing about the revolution? Were there many factions
in Russia that worked toward social reform?Did not Lenin
shuffle back and forth from Switzerland during the early
stages of the revolution?Did he not give command of the
red army to Trotsky?Did he not create the Cheka which
he used as an instrument to persecute, imprison, and kill
political enemies as well as personal enemies,a practice
which Stalin would take to new heights.Lenin was clever
and ruthless, but was he good?If goodness is measured
by ones capacity for cold calculation of oppression and a
detachment of humane compassion then by such means
Lenin can be considered good, for afterall he was good at his craft.I myself believe that ones goodness must be
measured by his contribution to his people,in the benefit
of society,so consider Lenin in that context and measure
him in the overall condition of the Soviet Union as results
of the role which he played in its formation and then you
can determine for yourself whether Lenin was good.-Karo

With the elections in question he declared them invalid, banned all future elections and closed the parliament (Duma). Just like his predecessor, Tsar Nicholas. In effect he created another dictatorship with a different name. He failings that he made were never undone, but as I said before he did do some good.

Lenin was a good teacher. His writings are rich with humanitarian observation. He clarified many political and philosophical problems. It would be wrong to follow him blindly, or think of without mistakes or crimes under his
belt. He is valuable as an educator and an example of human courage a revolutionary needs.

Although Stalin could never have come to power without him, Lenin hated Stalin. So I don't really blame Lenin for Stalinism.
I look at Lenin a lot like I look at Che. There are different angles you can view things from, but both inspire people to work for justice. Both were good men who tried their best.
Lenin definitely went too fast and made major mistakes, but I think he was just trying to avoid letting capitalist countries influence popular opinion, such as Woodrow Wilson sending troops over to fight him. We all know that America fights propoganda wars, as well.
Lenin was initiator of the central drama - the tragedy - of our era, the rise of totalitarian states
Even when we strip Lenin of the cult that was created all around him after his death
It looks like the person who wrote this was, unfortunately, influenced by David Horowitz. A while back he called Che a totalitarian, and pretty much any group that he doesn't like, he refers to as a "cult." I don't have time to find the many examples, but if you look through him columns it's not hard to find.
It's all in how you look at it.

Lenin... I've read his biography in orginal. I liked it :) . But I read it in the Soviet edition. Now, the new Russian history scientists are writing very many books about "The truth of Lenin" or something. And there they write how he was bad... Now it's said that Lenin's mother was a feodal ( pomeshik ) , that's from where Lenin had money. And they say that is a shame ! What a shame ! A man with money gave it to the people ! I admire ! Lenin haven't done all he wanted, he died. So if there were no Lenin? I realize! Anyway maybe we all were dead because of the American-Russian war because of something useless, as usuall ...
Lenin was alive, Lenin is alive, Lenin will be alive !
