everyone of the news stories about this including this one, has come from "Blue Diamond" press releases, whoever they are, with no response from the Maoists; this is not a verified piece of news that we can just accept as fact until it comes from multiple sources or the maoists state that their line on homosexuality has somehow changed in the last few months (if you recall they used to work closely with gay rights groups).

Its entirely possible that either its a case of anti-maoist propaganda with no factual basis or even more likely that attacks on gays have been carried out by royalist police and they've simply been misattributed to the Maoists when the Maoists have nothing to do with it.

It would certainly be strange for anyone to say the Nepalese Maoists had "betrayed" gay people, however, since they've never promised any support to gay rights. According to the article Cheung Mo posted, gay rights activists claim the liberal and reformist parties did.

As for the original topic the its not only the Maoists in Nepal doing this but CPI and CPI(M) are also doing the same. It is rather unfortunate that even after Independence from Britain all the countries in the subcontinent are still strucked to the Victorian age ideas.And media people here too are totally immature and promote these types of mindsets.Very few magazines are actually left leaning and they too prejudiced in this matter.
